Members are troubleshooting a puzzling leak under the kitchen sink of a 2022 Montana Legacy 5th wheel, where water appears hours after use with no visible dripping during operation. The most common advice is to dry the cabinet, lay paper towels, and check periodically to pinpoint the source, as this method has helped others identify hidden leaks. Several RVers suggest checking both supply line connections and the sink drain assembly, especially the strainer basket, as leaks here can be... More...

We have a leak that has developed under our kitchen sink in our 2022 Montana Legacy 5th wheel trailer. The odd thing
is we do not see any water leaks in the pipes when we are running water in the kitchen sink. We can run water down the sink and watch for water leaking from somewhere and see nothing....then several hours later, after NO water useage in the kitchen sink at all, we will open the cabinet under the sink and there will be water standing! Any thoughts of what can be causing this would be appreciated!

Might be your supply lines - loose nut where they connect to the faucet or at a crimp. Picture is of our bath faucet but kitchen is similar. Some paper towels under the faucet and under the lines could help you find the source.

While you’re inspecting, you might check that the nuts at the sink drain to drain line is tight and at the 90 (if you have one).

On my 2020 (pre-Covid) HC331rl, it was delivered with a pool of pink stuff under the island sink. No leaks in the supply lines. When I pulled the waste basket out from the adjacent cabinet, the sink drain was "almost" connected to the line that goes through the floor to the grey tank. I ensured it would never come loose again.

Remove the contents under your sink if there are any still there. Make sure they're under sink is dry. Spread paper towels across the bottom of the sink cabinet. Check every 15 to 30 minutes - there will be a wet spot underneath or beside the area where the water is coming in.

I would guess it’s the strainer basket in the bottom of the sink. If it was on the pressure water side it would be pretty constant. I’ve had 2 where it was around the drain.

This is exactly what you should do to help determine the source.

If you try tightening the nuts on the two water lines, do NOT use a wrench or else you will break the nuts. Only use hand pressure. If it still leaks? Replace the foam washers inside the nuts.

The washers in the fresh water connections are called Cone washers. Not foam.
