Microwave Lost Power After Possible Door Spark

Good morning,
I opened the microwave to reheat something this morning and "thought" I saw a slight spark from the upper right corner of the door when opening the door. I closed the door and then realized that there was no power to the M/W. I'm not positive that there was power to the M/W before opening the door as it's something I didn't question or check as I assumed there was.

All outlets and fridge in the kitchen and elsewhere are working. The M/W breaker appears to be working, and the switch has been turned off and back on without a change in the situation.

The unit is 9 years old, is it time for a replacement?

Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Recommend replacing the MW. Fairly easy swap out but a two person job - at least mine was. Never used the convection mode so I did not replace it with a convection unit.

On this trip, DW noticed something on the stainless face (some sort of corrosion?) and she was unable to “polish” it out. (It doesn’t bother me in the least!). I told her not worry about it because this OEM High Point microwave is on borrowed time - based on my reading this forum on the subject…therefore we will likely be replacing it at some point in the future (I think I said NEAR future in an attempt to close the discussion)…but I’m not going to get a new one until this one craps out.

A few months ago, the OEM 1000 watt microwave in our motorhome bit the dust, and we replaced it with a 1200 watt unit. I made the mistake of wondering how well the convection feature works…well, the only thing the convection feature fried was the microwave. I noticed the High Point is a 900 watt unit (we have never used the convection feature - we have a countertop air fryer) so hopefully we can find a 1200 watt non-convection unit for the replacement when the time comes.

Question for some of you guys that have installed a new microwave - can you provide make and model so I can study up on the wattage, dimensions and get my credit card ready to go?

Edit: the microwave in the motorhome was mounted in a cabinet above the stove, and it has a full old-school vent-hood - so I did not have to install an “over the range” unit with built-in vent. OTR microwaves cost a lot more than “countertop” models.

I replaced mine 2-4 years ago. I knew it was a 2 man job installing it, and we were going to be stationary for a week or so in a few days. So I measured exactly and went to Best Buy and found one with the right dimensions. Carried it 1000 miles to my next stop and called ahead to a dealer and set up an appointment. They installed it and all is good.

I guess we are an exception but we used our convection fairly often. We might have an entree that cooked at 350 and a side or rolls or desert that cooked at 400/425. So the entree in one and the side in the other to be ready at the same time.

Check the fuse behind the top panel. That may have been the ‘spark’. I had the same thing happen and a fuse is much cheaper than a new MW.
