Lithium conversion

RB,

First, welcome to the forum!

No changes are required. Your current converter will charge the batteries somewhere around 85% of full capacity. If you have solar you can program your charge controller to top off the batteries. Other options include using the boost button on your converter - if so equipped, not all are or replacing the converter with a lithium cable unit.

I have continued to use my original converter with my lithium batteries but I also have some solar.

If you have a Progressive Dynamics converter that does not have the Lithium switch, give PD a call. Apparently, there is a way to put a jumper on the board for Lithium that essentially does what AZ said above and keep it in bulk mode.
Found out when I talked to them and thought my converter had died. Turned out the red key in the wet bay was turned off while in the shop. :biggrin1:

Here is what I did with my 2015 3910FB to use lithium battery.

1st, Look at your converter. It is next to your indoor load center. There should be instructions on it or in your manual that tells you how to flip the switch to charge Lithium versus Lead Acid. 2nd if you are replacing two 100amp hour Lead Acid with either one 200amp Lithium or two 100amp Lithium just take out the old batteries and drop in the new battery(s). If you are adding additional ampere capacity you will need to upgrade the cabling as your cables are sized for whatever came with your trailer.

In my case, no. The charging circuit will only supply a very low trickle charge to the trailer. I have considered installing a DC-DC converter, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

My write up of DC-DC charger install.
