Hi, i've been a member here for years, just sold our 2006 Montana 3000rk that we had purchased new. We bought a 2024 Montana 3124ck. the lippert landing gear control has a default pin you have to put in to access the key pad for hitching and unhitching. i contacted Lippert directly about how to change the code. Shockingly they said you can't change or personalize it.

Subject: Default Pin code change?

Hi, we just took delivery on a 2024 Montana 3123ck, the default pin on the landing gear controls is a commonly used one according to the dealer. They have no idea how to change or personalize it and i can't see anyplace that it can be done. I've also contacted the Montana owner's forum with no luck.

Is there a way?

can you provide me with the instructions if so?

Hello Greg,

Thank you for your email. The default pin cannot be reset or personalized on this system. I am including the owner's manual for the system if needed. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call us at 574-537-8900.

Congrats on your first Post after years of lurking! I am not too far away from you in Carmichael.

Montana previously used a CH751 key lock on the door. Not the most secure lock but it at least could be changed to some thing else. But some designer thought a plastic snap box cover will be sturdier and stand up to UV longer. Hence the need for a security code gee whiz..

The "Default" security code is documented in several places in the user manual. Every time it is labeled "Default" as if there are variations possible. I am assuming your PIN is the same as the "Default"?

It is really short sighted to use the same "Default" PIN code on every Titan Leveling System produced. It is as secure as the CH751 key lock. There probably is a way to change it given the "Default" label, but someone decided that it would be a problem for future service dealers if it was.

I have loaded the new "Titan Leveling System (2024 and Later) ccd-0007709.pdf" manual to the Files section for future reference.

Thanks, now the rest of us know the PIN too! Yep, its the new version of the CH751 key! But, I already have so many danged "PINS" to remember, I'll probably confuse this one with one I actually use now and wonder why it won't work on something I use! .... like the ATM machine at the bank! Surrrrrrre!.......

My brother in law who hunts with us is a cardiac nurse. We found out years ago that his "medicine cabinet key" from the cardiac unit at the hospital is a CH751 key that also fits our camper. You'd think that key would need to be a bit more secure.

When we bought our 2006 Montana, my brother in law had a cougar and he walked over and used his key to open my side pockets. A bit alarming but i had those rekeyed. This however has me a bit spooked about someone being able to know the code and back up and take my unit. But its kept on our property in a locked barn so it would only be when camping.

Carl thanks for the first post. Maybe i'll come up and pick your brain sometime about all things Montana lol. Hopefully this one will be as good as our other one. Heading out to Oregon in two weeks for 17 days so hopefully all good stories when i get back!

Thanks for posting the manual Carl. I had never seen one of those systems. After a 1 minute speed-read - it looked complicated and way different from my system, so I gave up. However I did see the multiple references to the default PIN and the PIN number is…???…daingit…I already forgot the daing PIN!!! Was it 1234? I should have logged it into my excel file of all my PINs. I have the file securely protected with a PIN number of 1234.

I hadn't seen this version before either Mike. But apparently someone thought a GUI interface, rather than push buttons, is an improvement. It seems to have all the functions of the previous touch pads but I haven't actually played with one (yet).

Reminds me of the move to touch screens move in autos. Turns out some things are better with knobs and switches, rather than manipulating a screen, when hauling down the road at speed.

As for a PIN, I use one that no one will figure out in a reasonable time - 1111.

I had an opportunity to stop by my local Montana dealer today and they actually had a 2024 model with this new do-dad.
I was not impressed with the plastic door and latch. It's life span appears to be limited given reasonable usage and a UV beating.

There is a sticker inside the flimsy door, when opened, that tells you the secret "Default Code" which I have already forgotten. Sure enough it worked. I have to believe there is a way to change the "Default Code'. There is just too much of the "Default" usage in the door, in the PDF, and printed on the "brain" in the front compartment. It may well require a LCI Executive intervention.

There was no battery in the RV so it was complaining about low voltage and didn't want to do much. I don't know the usefulness of the three Auto Level "Set Points". I guess you can set some to tilt the RV in case of rain or to dump but are they really necessary?

One feature that I like in the current Level-Up system has disappeared. That is the 12C battery voltage display. For those without solar or shunts, it was a much more accurate status of battery voltage than the 1/3, 2/3, FULL idiot display inside the coach.

Thanks for the update, and you would THINK there was a way to change the pin but no. Thats why i posted the Lippert response. Stupid really. oh well. Been outfitting the new rig and getting ready for our first trip on the 15th. i'm sure i'll find things to fix along the way.
