Level Up help needed

During PDI on my new 2014 3402RL, I thought I had all the critical steps in my mind on the Level Up system. However, I think the 900 mile trip home caused me to forget a few things. To compound the problem, I put all the manuals for all the Monty systems in the kitchen draw that can't be opened until I'm level and have the kitchen slides out. So if someone can point me to a PDF of the Level up manual, I'd appreciate it.

I did get the front jacks down and truck unhitched, but I'm not confident I did it by the book. I knew the rear jacks all come up separately, one at a time. But I thought the fronts came down together when you are doing the unhitch.

So here's what I did. Let me know if I'm ok.
1. power on Level Up system. Display says Jacks up and the LED on the left button is blinking.
2. I hold the Front button until the left jack is down and straining.
3. The truck lifts a little, then the right jack comes down.
4. As soon as the right jack completely comes down, the truck lifts a little more.
5. At that point I disconnected the brake and light cable and emergency brake cable.
6. I pulled away with no issues, and of course the wheels were chocked.

Is this normal??

Yes, appears normal to me. I sometimes have to bring Jack's down a bit after the second one grips, using retract mode. If I have too much uplift on hitch, it drags coming off fithwheel, I like no drag offloads. But yes, they move one at a time. Note: my remote does not operate front jacks? Don't know if this is normal, but it never responds when pressing the button, I would just not use it, if it did. I like to see how those jacks are operating. I use my remote for slides only. With 5 slided moving out, or in, I like to monitor their progress.

I think if you go to the LCI (Lippert) site you can down load the manual with all the instructions.
BTW, yes that is normal for the landing gear and once you have the TV out of the way, just hit the Auto Level button and the system will do it's thing.

There should also be a set of instructions on the side of the coach just below the hydraulic service control door.

Normal. Ours does the same thing. Front left, then front right. I too have to retract a bit to unhitch if I overshoot.

You will enjoy this feature. Just make sure you pull your truck forward out of the way. As it starts the leveling process it lowers the front way down.

I love watching the folks around us watch as it levels itself while I crack a cold one.

Ours was installed by Lippert and our street side leg comes down first and then the curb side. I get it off the truck, unhook, pull forward and then hit auto level.

Thanks everyone. I found the manual online and it, of course, confirms what you all said. It just isn't clear about the jacks extending driver side first then passenger side. I panicked a little when the left side leg started taking the weight off the truck before the right side started to extend. Didn't want to have the RV unnecessarily twisted.

The way they work the hydraulic pressure starts one down and then with the leg encounters resistance, the other leg starts moving. My Montana also has the instructions on the inside of the control panel door. The POS Forest River we had did not, so I printed out the small instruction sheet on line and put a copy in the glovebox of my truck. It's the greatest camper invention since slideouts!

And guys, it all depends on where the hydraulic pump is located. On the old Challenger, the pump is located on the door side. Mere inches from the landing gear leg on that corner. It is always the first to extend and retract because, it sees whatever hydraulic pressure it needs to move first.......which ain't much. When that foot pad touches the ground, the other leg moves down until the foot pad touches. Instantly, both cylinders build identical pressure to lift and stabilize. When I back under and hook up, both legs start to raise until the weight of the trailer settles and is supported on the truck. The off door leg stops until the door side leg is fully retracted then, the off door side raises.

So Jim, I would say what you are seeing is normal.

Hi Jim, Glad you made it home. Yes the Level thing is a bit intimidating at first. I still have to read the sticker every time.

The 6 jacks are on 3 hydraulic circuits. The 2 front. The left rears and the right rears. As you have seen they react off each other. It would be very hard to twist the box.

If you hear a "popping" sound coming from the jacks in cool or colder weather, do not be alarmed. There is a bulletin about that. Google noisy Lippert jacks, get a beverage and read.

Jim

I do not know about anyone else but I can see when weight come off truck by watching the hitch and pinbox. As I lower the front landing gear I watch as the truck raises and when I see a gap (small, less than 1/4 inch) between the hitch and the pinbox, I stop. I then disconnect and pull the truck away. Never have to lower the pinbox to relieve pressure. Also, I run the slides out and then autolevel. I do this to make sure that it levels with the weight distributed the way I will live. Before anyone says "you can't do that" I talked to Lippert and they said it does not matter. I know other MOC'rs that do the same thing.

One word of caution, DO NOT press Auto Level after reconnecting the truck in place of Auto Retract. Accidently did it by mistake once and it dropped onto the truck quickly, retracted the front landing gear and tripped the CB. With the CB tripped, the Level Up system will not work. Since the CB is located on the wall behind all of the crap I carry in the front compartment and the truck was connected, it made for tough work trying to get to the CB to reset it. I think my mind was not on the task and I hit the Auto Level button instead of cycling through the menu to get to Auto Retract.
