A member asked how to carry kayaks with a truck and RV setup, noting concern that an over-cab rack could interfere with a truck box or tonneau cover. Other members shared examples of over-cab, rear-mounted, hitch-assisted, and homemade-style carrying setups, but details on some pictured racks were uncertain.

We are thinking of getting kayaks. We are unsure of the best way to carry them. I've seen the over cab option from US Rack. I doubt we could use our truck box or possibly tonneau cover with that option. Any other suggestions or experience anyone can share? Thanks!

p.s. Looking forward to the Rally in Sept!

Where exactly did you see these? I see the first photo does show their using a truck box!
I did a reverse image search on your first photo, found the original FB post, and reached out to them for more info. The second post appears to be a product called Yakups from rvkayakrack.com. Also, I find Thule makes (or made?) a product called the Goal Post that can fit in a receiver hitch and can be used in tandem with their roof rack, potentially allowing me to mount kayaks over the hood. We saw a similar homegrown version of this at a rest stop on the way back from FL recently. See below.

Thanks for your help!

Honestly, I don't remember where I got them from. Since one is a Montana, maybe on this forum.

I have been kicking around the same thing. I seen a guy at one campground that had made a rack for the back of his 5th wheel to haul his kayaks and Bikes. Only one I have seen and not sure how it was working out for him. I found this one on Amazon but showing unavailable so wondering if they are having problems with them. Not sure I want them sticking up on the back of mine.

Just get ORU folding kayaks. No need for racks and bulky storage. You can fold them up and put them in back of the truck or in the basement.
We have had our Bay ST ORUs for 6 years and love them. Light weight and easy to transport
