In-Command Resets While Operating Slides and Jacks Hesitate

Just started when jacks are going up they hesitate then keep going. Also when going in and out with slides the in command system stops working and I have to renter my password then it starts again did it three times going in! Anyone had this happen before? Is it the beginning of something?

Jerky - a few questions…
- Were you working your jacks with the InCommand? Or the Lippert panel on the drivers side front of the rig? (I have never tried working my jacks with the ProPlus InCommand in my rig)

- do you know if the OEM breaker for your hydraulic system (mine was 50 amp resetting) has been changed to an 80 amp resetting breaker?

- hopefully other folks will chime in, but this sounds like low or bad batteries to me.

I no nothing about the In-Command System (and I am trying to keep it that way). As for the jacks, the usual cause of hesitation, or a complete stopping, is the self-resetting circuit breaker. Lots of discussion on these things. I think you have the 50 amp ones. They are cheap to replace because they are cheaply made. Even LCI suggests upgrading it to a 80 amp CB.

Look for a red plastic covered CB on the rear wall near the batteries. There will be two of them. Measure the voltage from one post to ground on each side of the CB. The one with different values is the suspect. They are easy to replace. A Search here on self-resetting circuit breaker will uncover pictures and lots of discussion.

Hopefully the In Command issue will disappear after replacing the breaker as it use the same hydraulic system to move the slides - **Assuming you have hydraulic slides and not cable or schwintek***

I thought i had a better pic - but the black breaker on the red wire to the left is my “new” 80 amp self resetting breaker. The OEM 50 amp looked much like the red plastic thing on the right.

I’ll weigh in as a frequent iNCommand user that likely fuse or weak battery. Does it have same behavior on shore power?

Also - I doubt this would cause your issues, but ASA issued a software update for the Pro and ProPlus in June 2017. They have instructions on the ASA website using a thumb drive. I installed the update on my system maybe late 2018…just something for you to check while you are tinkering with it.

If the problem occurs when using the LevelUp control panel and the InCommand control panel, neither of those panels is the problem; look for a common point. Breaker, hydraulic pump, battery, etc.

Do you have a better picture of the black breaker where I can see what wires are on there and did you leave the red ones connected?

I think I bought the Bussman breaker off of Amazon years ago.
My breaker only had the hydraulic system red wire on it…so it was an easy install…disconnect+remove the old breaker…mount the new breaker and reconnect the wires. I recall that I may have had to drill out a ring connector just a bit to get it to fit the post…fuzzy memory.

Edit: I went out and took a photo this morning. Now i remember. First I bought an 80 amp breaker and installed ON THE WRONG LEAD! Doh! I put it on the line leading to my inverter and fridge (the breaker on the left in the pic below). So I bought a second breaker and put it on the hydraulic system line, and there are a bunch of other lines hooked up there…no idea what they serve…I just put them back the way they came off. I did have to drill out one/some of the ring connectors for the smaller wires.

If you’re still having the issue, I’ve found both ASA and Lippert to be very helpful with technical issues. Prob worth a call. Would be great to know if they help solve it and what it was.

Edit: Adding a link for In-Command owner manuals. You’ll have to find your model and from there, you can download instructions for a hard reset and troubleshooting.

Reset on our unit is a small button on the control panel inside the storage bay.

Under troubleshooting for our unit, there is a heading for “motor not running”. Although yours is intermittent, the diagram suggests it could be a voltage issue on a certain pin or the relay. The voltage drop could be a loose wire at the terminal(s). Folks have mentioned finding loose wiring.

Ok great pic i’m gonna change both of mine just for shits and grins and see what happens. I don’t remember that first start happening whether I was plugged into shore power or not. I was this last time putting it up and it did not act up so I guess we’ll see.
