What do the model numbers mean at the entry door? Mine is 3665-RL, I'm pretty sure the RL is for "rear living" but I see many different letter combinations.
But what do the various numbers mean?

They used to mean the square footage of the camper but I don’t think they mean anything now.

The two letter suffixes (RL, FL, BR, RK, etc.) have always had a meaning relative to the floor plan layout. AFAIK, the four (and now three) numeric digits have never meant anything other than model number. The early 2950, 2955, and 2980 all had the same square footage layout. Montana dropped the 29nn numbers and went exclusively to 3nnn numbers. They range from 32' to 42' in length and two to five slides. Obviously square footage varies widely amongst them.

One other thing I learned about mine is that the even numbered ending is RV refrigerator and the odd number is residential refrigerator. So the 3790RD is the same floor plan as the 3791RD, except the latter has a residential refrigerator.
I don't know if this holds true for all the other plans.

And apparently that no longer holds as my ‘21 was a 3120RL with a rv fridge, a 3121rl with a residential fridge and for 2023, it is a 3123rl no matter which fridge is in it. There are also a few minor changes for 2023, but not really a floor plan change, just some things like a different pantry setup.

I always thought it had something to do with length? Guess not. My 3295 RK does indeed have a rear kitchen but total length is close to 36'. I never measured but assumed the 3295 meant close to 33' from front to rear inside.

Are you all saying the (at least) first 2 numbers have nothing to do with length?

Funny isn’t it, this subject has been discussed several times on this forum as well as others and yet I have not seen even one explanation from a manufacturers representative! Pretty sure the numbers are meaningless.

Couple years ago I did a short study of the model nos. at that time and the first two digits seemed to be a few feet less than the reported length. I concluded at the time that it was maybe the interior length. As for the residential refer, that was either a 0 or a 1.

Same as ours.

This brings up another question. Did the length of the 2955 campers change at some point or is it a question of how we measure them? I know they got heavier. Mine was 92 or 94 hundred pounds but the later ones were heavier.

I think I found it. Plug your model number into this equation to determine total length.
