I made a forum post response on the Keystone forum and got a response back that got me to thinking. So, why not start a discussion over here. There's no right or wrong, correct or incorrect answer. But, maybe something to reflect on and examine ourselves a little.

A simple question? Do you spend more of your "awake" time inside your camper or outside the camper. (Sleep does not count, as everyone sleeps)... but daytime naps do!

So, I'll start. When the kids were little, we spent a lot of our camping time outside, and that time was not always at the campground or state park. Often, it involved excursions to theme parks, swimming locations, or site seeing events.

When the kids no longer traveled with us, my wife and I found ourselves "vegetating" outside around a camp fire and our outside time was still more than inside. It was nice to just be outside and relax and no longer have to be in the "go-go-go" mind set to keep the kids occupied.

As time went on, and as the camping excursions got longer and longer, and more and more frequent, and my wife and I had the ability to work-from-home 100%, the time inside the camper shifted more, and outside time shifted less.

Covid hit and that really changed things. We were camping almost 100% now, still owned the house, returned home occasionally, but traveled to state parks and switched every 2 weeks to a new one. Still, spent more time inside than out. I would often set up my laptop computer outside under the shade and work from there, but too often glare would prevent seeing the screen so well. And then ... conference calls, I'd move inside.

Then I officially retired and got into camp hosting. Now, about 3/4 of our year is spent camp hosting. My wife is still working full time remote, so she spends most of here day inside the camper on her laptop computer. Because I'm the "camp host" most of my day is spent outside now, especially where we are located now (at a state historic site in Louisiana).

Still, with the creature comforts of the inside of the camper, it really is not an inconvenience to be "inside" when it rains, or the weather goes wonky! The inside of our camper is very comfortable, has all the animalities of "home" with a full hook-up campsite, and being inside is just as welcoming as being outside.

However, I am an outside person and I am one of those people that has to be doing "something" all the time. If that is building a civil war field box, or blacksmithing demonstration, or simply walking the grounds sharing with visitors history, I prefer that, rather than being inside. In a conventional campground, it's helping a new camping person help set up a tent, sell fire wood, or clean a fire pit. Its not that I don't like the inside of the camper, it's just, I have to be busy, and television is simply not worth watching as a passive way to waddle away precious time.

I know each of us using our camper for different reasons. Ours use to be nothing but bedroom space. Over time and with age, it's become our primary home (even though we still have our stick-n-brick). But, because of where we park it, it's easy for my wife to stay inside, it's easy for me to stay outside.

How do you do it? Just curious?

For me, far more time outside than inside. Have always been an outside person.
For the wife, more like 50-50. Our favorite RV park was a large park strung out for 1/2 mile along a river in southern Colorado near Wolf Creek pass.. So we frequently took bike rides thru the park, or long walks with the dogs. And of course, there were also frequent sightseeing trips thru that beautiful area. Otherwise she was camped in her recliner reading.
Not unusual for both of us to be ensconced in our recliners for an afternoon nap. Although I even often took my nap in a lounge chair outside.

I’ve saw people go “camping” and spend all their time in their camper. Why spend all the money to go camping and spend all your time inside just stay at home sell the camper and eat out.
