Welcome to the forums and congrats on getting your new Montana. You have a great truck for towing. You sound like you are preparing yourself well for your full time adventures.
We purchased our current Montana about 3-4 years before we took the leap and went "long term". Our "long term" was a slow shift for us. Each outing seemed to get longer and longer between returning home. Now, we are away from home 10 months out of the year. Our son lives in our house at home, so we have a home base to return to. Having a home base does come in handy: a residence for registering vehicles, insurances, banking, doctor / vet for the doggies, Social Security, and a good place to return to for auto repairs / camper repairs. The only down-side to all of this is the fact I get those Jury Duty notices in the mail every now and then, and I'm a thousand miles away from home. I contact the courts and let them know I'm nowhere close to Indiana, and I'm excused. Still, it's a headache. If it were not for that ... life would truly be beautiful!
You will enjoy your new camper. You have time to prepare, plan, and get to know your new camper very well before you hit the road permanently. You are doing "it" exactly right! I wish you great success!
