It is that time of year again. Who's heading to the RGV? We plan to start our journey south on Dec 13 with a 4 day stop in Wausau for a grandson's Christmas concert, I refuse to call it a Winter Concert, and celebrate Christmas. Then onward on the 18th. I plan to take some lights to string on trees on our site for Christmas. A friend suggested I have an imitation tree with white for snow. NO WAY do I want any reminder of snow.

We'll be leaving Nov 15, arriving the 19th at Bit O Heaven in Donna, but just for TWO weeks, then back home to AL where its colder, but greener!

We will be heading to the RGV just after Thanksgiving.
WE live just south of Wausau, in Schofield, WI.
Hope to see you in the Vally.
I think we met you guys at a Wisconsin rally a few years
back at Riverside restaurant.
Our brother in law is Joe Groshek, & Sandy Sky is my wife's sister.
They live in Washburn, WI.
Safe travels & who knows we may see you in the Vally.

Hope you had a safe trip Larry &LaVonne. Look forward to seeing you both this winter. Price of diesel coming down so hope it continues so that we don't have to take out a loan.

Perry & Jeanie, We think it was an MOC gathering at Riverside. Only a few in attendance and it seems interest in MOC gatherings has faded in the RGV. It is a small world. Know Joe and Sandy well. In fact, we traveled to Superior with Joe on Friday as volunteers for the campaign appearance of VP Joe Biden at the Superior Middle School. Hopefully our paths will cross this winter. Have a safe trip to the RGV.

96 would be too hot for us. 70 to 80 is more like it. Of course, it is better than the high 30's we have been having.

We will be arriving on 12/1 also. Be staying at Victoria Palms in Donna Tx. We would be interested in get togethers too.

NO more RGV. Son is in the Air Force and purchased a home by his base in Phoenix, AZ. Large home with enough room for wife and I. I will miss the RGV and my runs to the Island and the beach, hall parties and friends at the park, the pool and hot tub and the BS. We will visit our other son and grand kids In the Denver area on the way to AZ. With Diesel at $4.29 I will not miss the fuel stops.

Anyone stopping in San Antonio--give me a shout out--maybe we can get together. We are in our stick house in SA--not much need to RV further south--at least not yet.

We have never been to the RGV. Is it similar to Mesa, AZ? Over the years we have spent a couple weeks at Mesa, but the air quality is so poor we no longer consider going there. We have been looking for a place to spend the winters but have yet to find the right place. Maybe we should head to RGV for a couple of weeks to experience what it is like. We'd need a place that is really pet friendly. Any recommendations?

Never been to Mesa so cannot compare. We've spent time since wintering in the South and find the RGV preferable and this will be our 5th winter. Like you plan we spent a month here in Oleander Acres in Mission, TX and have been coming back since.

We are not Snow Birds we are referred to as 'Winter Texans'. You will find billboards and marquees saying "Welcome Home or (Back) Winter Texans". Reasons to come here: Warmer weather, little pollution; friendlier people and businesses; less expensive. Mission has 60 RV parks so your choices are endless. Approximately 160,000 Winter Texans in the Valley. You will find parks at $200/mo plus electricity to $1,000/mo plus electricity. We pay $865 for 3 months plus electricity. Club house, but no pool or fancy amenities. You will find most parks are pet friendly, just pick up after your pet.

Wind and dust are negatives. We are in a 5 yr drought. All that comes to mind right now. Watching Packers beat Vikings. GO PACK!!

We left Washburn this morning at 9:20 during one of our lake effect snow storms. About 13 miles from Lake Superior the snow disappeared. Now at our son's in Wausau until Tuesday. Forecast for tomorrow is rain. We may be Mission by the 21st.

Leaving Wausau Tuesday AM just in time. Winter storm watch for Wed night and Thursday. Should be well out of snow country by then. Hopefully we will have an uneventful trip. Texas here we come!

When will the Montana owners meet in the valley this year. Would like to make connections with some owners this year , have been trying for three years. We are in Donna now.
