Members discussed a persistent issue with a glass door on a 295 RL fifth wheel not shutting properly and the weather seal beginning to tear. The original poster confirmed the trailer was level and had tried both auto and manual leveling, but the problem persisted. The glass door on my 295 RL is not shutting good and the weather seal is beginning to tear. I have auto leveled the 5th wheel. I have tried to manually adjust the leveling but it isn't helping either. Would welcome feedback for a fix.
Thanks
Tom
I’m betting it is the silver-colored strike plate on the jamb that needs adjusting. The red arrow points to it in the screen shot. Loosen both screws up and move the plate slightly toward the interior. Close the door and see if it is better. Adjust it a bit more if needed, then tighten the screws.

The strike plate is not the issue this time. It is the top of the door is hitting the frame when shutting. It is like the door is out of alignment. The trailer is level. I tweak the leveling manually but it is not the solution.

Lately, my entry door has been catching/dragging at the bottom when I open it. I open the latch and the top comes out easy, but I have to really pull hard to get the bottom to open. I have not re-leveled in several months…that might help. I thought I might try just manually “bumping” the rear jack up a bit to see if that might help. A few months ago I replaced my rear drivers side jack. My thought is that maybe the rear of my rig has “sunk” or drooped a bit since I last leveled. Again, I have not yet tackled this job, so it’s only a theory at this point. You might try manually moving your jacks just a bit to see if it changes anything. The auto-level is not always absolutely level.
I tried a quick search of the forum for “adjusting the entry door” and found this video from Lippert. I did not know the doors have a bit of built-in camber designed for the door to hit the head and sill of the jamb first, the pull in the middle to provide a better seal. Just out of curiosity, I plan to check my door camber with a level. That Lippert tool is quite the contraption. I wonder if anyone in the forum has tried to make a similar tool using 2x4s, baling wire and duct tape???
I will bet it is your hinge. I was fighting the same thing for a year. Finely decided to remove the door and check the hinges. Both the bottom and top hinges were broken. They were broken into three pieces . Ordered new hinges from the manufacturer. And when I re installed the door worked great. It no longer was hitting the top and closed perfectly!!

Tom - I believe the video includes a note that the Lippert contraption can not be used with glass doors…makes sense to me! I’m agree with cwestl that it is probably the hinge.
