My DW and I have upgraded to the Montana RV family. Having move on up from our 2005 Glendale Titanium to 2018
Montana 3921FB, we ecstatic with all the bells and whistles of this rig. Have been looking for some time for that ‘right’ price and finally found it down in Ft Pierce, FL
The only downside with the purchase is the Furriion rearview camera monitor was not left with the unit🤷🏼. Have been searching online for a reasonably price monitor but not yet successful…
I tried a inexpensive plug and play set that advertised ‘compatible with Furrions hard wired system but no luck…
Any thoughts out there…?

Congrats on your new rig! I own the same and love it.

The Furrion rear camera and screen that came with the rig in 2018 is not as good as watching Howdy Doody on a grainy black and white TV…POOR resolution and poor connectivity between the camera and the screen on your dash. There are many new options out there that will work for you now. Search YouTube and start watching rear view camera reviews. The Furrion camera plugs into a mini “rca jack” ( ?not the real name) - but your new camera will mount in the same location and simply plug in. The camera will come on when you turn on the headlights in the truck so that the running lights on the Monte are on. It is wired to that circuit. I have a Chevy with limited dash real estate so I did not want a monster screen…I think my screen is 7”.

What you need to find is a system that can broadcast signal from the camera to the dash…that is a good 50’ or so. The OEM Furrion definitely did not have the power to connect over that distance while moving on my rig…it was horrible. In 2021 I bought a Visionworks system. They have been good to work with and have finally found an antenna to work the distance on my rig. I have no idea what they offer now. It has been a while since I have priced systems. My Visionworks was about $350 several years ago.

A YouTube channel called Changing Lanes put a Haloview BT?? on his 44’ toy hauler and it worked great. You need to do your own research. The cameras and screens these days are light years better than that Furrion on your rig.

I've had the same 7 inch Furrion Observation system since my MHC was brand new. I had to install it myself as the MHC did not come with one "factory." I have had a couple issues with it, but since have resolved both.

First, let me say, mine has a range of about 300 feet.. I tested out the range when I first got the system hooked up by jumping the camper pig tail (slot 1 and 7) so the running lights stayed on. Then drove down the road with the monitor in the truck and I was a good 300 feet or more from the camper when the signal was finally lost.

I did have issues initially keeping a signal, and I found out if the antenna on the rear camera was kept pointing straight up, it worked perfectly fine. If it dropped sideways, it would sometimes loose signal. Simple solution ... I taped the antenna in the upward position and I've never lost signal since.

After about 5 years my monitor died. I ordered a new one from Furrion and had to pair all 3 of the cameras again. That gave me an opportunity to figure out what went wrong with the old one. Found out a wire broke. I fixed it, and now have a back up. This whole process taught me that only 1 monitor at a time can be paired to the cameras. I was hoping both could be paired. But I do have my original as a back-up now. But the second one has worked fine ever sicne.

Next, my rear camera became fuzzy within a few weeks. I eventually installed the side cameras and their clarity was worlds apart. I tried cleaning the lens on back camera, everything, nothing helped. But the side cameras worked great, clear as crystal. So, I did realize, the problem was with the camera... NOT the monitor.

I finally solved the foggy problem on the rear camera from a post that someone put on one of the RV Life forums. I don't remember which one it was. The solution ... I cleaned the lens on the camera and then simply put one drop of CLEAR fingernail polish directly over the top of the lens and let it dry. The result ... it immediately got crystal clear.

The only down side to the system I'm still experiencing is the fact that only one monitor stays on screen at a time, not all 3. All three can appear on screen at the same time, but they only appear for about 30 seconds and then the monitor flips back to the primary camera. Granted, it easy to select the primary camera, but it is nice when the monitor shows all three (left side, right side, and rear). And actually, I like running with the driver-side, side camera, on as my primary (for my blind spot) than the rear camera. And from everything I've researched over the last 7 years of ownership, there is no solution to display all 3 at the same time, except for the 30 second displays.

More than likely, finding a used monitor will not happen. I suggest, if you want to use the Furrion camera(s) on your camper to go to the Furrion web site and simply order a new one. Their technology is priority and NOTHING will match with it.

Thanks…we r loving it!
Appreciate the sharing as well. Success on the after market rear view camera install. Cost effective and works great!
