Study the specifications on each and the price. There actually isn’t much difference between them. One works as well as the other. I bought the Hughes. It was less expensive none are cheap.

I have the Progressive Industries EMS PT50X model, 6 years now, the camper has never been plugged in ANYWHERE without it being plugged into it. We have, on occasion been on a 30 amp site. We also have a Hughes 30 amp Autoformer that we kept from our previous 30 amp camper for such occasions. Both work very well.

However, about 6 months after we got the Hughes Autoformer, they forced an update on my phone and the app never worked again with my portable unit. No biggie though, as it still had readouts on the device itself.

Either one will do you well but, I personally, prefer the Progressive Industries model better.

We have the Progressive. It works great. We don’t have any experience with any other models but I would imagine that they all work about the same.

I opted for the hardwired version. I didn’t want to have something else that needed to be plugged in or easily stolen. I also wanted something that would react to the cable as well. I’m not sure what happens with the plug in type if there is a problem between the EMS and the trailer fuse box. A bad connection in the plug can happen too easily and I wanted that tracked as well.

We pull into a site, plug in the cable, and let the EMS do its job. YMMV.

I read recently on the Facebook group that the Progressive unit has been bought by another company and is now made overseas and that customer service is really bad and they do not stand behind the warranty.

I’m a hard wired progressive Montana HC owner. It’s treated us great at both good camping spots and even spots with bad electrical connections.
