My 211 Dish receiver has gone south and I need a new receiver. What receiver is everyone using to for Dish Network programming?

Are there other choices besides the Wally? I have a Wally in the motorhome and one in the Montana. I have one Tailgater that I take with us in either RV. The Wally works fine for us.

We bought one for the Montana in 2019 to replace our 211z. I bought some USB accessories for it…a WiFi thing, a thing that lets the air channels show in the Dish guide (I can’t remember what these are called), a hard drive to record shows (I thought we were going to be temporarily relocated at work and stay in the Monte, but it never happened), and one more USB thing - can’t remember. Anyway - I bought 4 accessories - but the Wally only has 2 USB ports…so I could not use them all at once…seemed weird at the time. Those things are in a drawer in the Monte.

Edit: I bought the Wally for the motorhome on Amazon for $50 or so. I think it is a refurbished item but it works just fine. I don’t know that you get anything special or an update if you buy a $99 brand new Wally from Dish. The software will update the first time you use it.

Thank you Mikendebbie.
Dish contacted us about a year ago and told us our 211 receiver was obsolete and should be replaced as programming wouldn’t be available on it much longer. So they replaced it with a Wally. I ask about the 211 in the camper, it’s OK the guy said. The 211 receiver went bad and guess what they replaced it with a 211.

Now I don’t understand if programming wasn’t going to be available why didn’t they replace it with a Wally?

Now I have little faith in anything they tell me except of course pay your bill. Dish just tell me the truth.

Rant over

I believe the other USB connected device they offer is a Bluetooth adapter that will allow you to connect to another Bluetooth device like your phone or a tablet. I don't know for sure, but apparently you can connect a USB hub if you have >2 devices; I'm basing this on the fact they sell a hub on their dishformyrv website. The Wally only has 1 tuner and you can't DVR 1 channel while watching another.

When they said programming won't be available much longer, did they mean the TV channels or the software updates for the receiver? The 211 model is ancient, I think they're up to the 211Z version now; they've run out of ABCs!

I agree with Bourbon County...I have no idea if the 211z will QUIT working completely - or if the thing will never be updated (probably no support for updates is correct). The last wally I bought was a reconditioned unit, and the first time we used it - it downloaded updates. I have noticed that it no loonger looks for satellite #110 (or whatever the one was that they decommissioned a few months ago - don't recall the correct number).

The "worst" part of using Dish for me is calling customer service to get the wally turned on and get local channels at our location. Since we use Dish at the S&B, I cannot go to the website and fix it myself - I HAVE to call customer service. They always get me up and going, but it takes a seemingly long phone call to accomplish the goal. I am spoiled rotten by the speed and ease of setting up Starlink and updating apps on my iphone.

I don’t know if they ment software or programming and I don’t know which version if the 211 they sent me.
