A member described their experience fixing a persistently unlevel dining table in their RV, tracing the issue to missing screws and a lack of support behind the cabinet where the table frame attaches. Their solution involved removing the screws, using a jack to level the table, and reinstalling the screws with additional fasteners for stability. Another member cautioned against using longer screws, sharing that doing so can damage the floor or linoleum, especially when moving the... More...

It has been bugging me for some time that my dining table was not level. Not sure how it got this way, but I seem to remember that the screws holding the frame to the floor were missing at some point and I replaced them. In any case, it bothered me enough that I finally did something about it. I found that the metal table frame was not plumb; while the screws were missing, it had pushed in the bottom of the cabinet it is attached to because there is not enough support behind it; the end of the table needed to be raised over an inch to make it level.

I removed the two screws attaching the frame to the floor, lifted it with a jack (pulled the cabinet out) until the table was level, reinstalled the screws and put in a couple more.

Be very careful not to use screws any longer than the originals—they will go through the bottom of the floor and gouge the linoleum the next time you move the slideout! (Ask me how I know.🙄🙁)

I can't tell you how many "little Things" about our trailer that have bugged me over the years that I re-engineered for deleted all together! Nice Job Scott.

I know this is an older thread... But am experiencing the very same issue with the "new to us" 2017. Question - is there any quick way to access the inside of the "cabinet' and brace it out a bit - thereby adding additional support from the issue happening again? I looked inside the "outdoor TV" space - and it is simply a plastic insert...no access there. Any thoughts?

You can remove the right side panel. It might give you enough room to work back there.
Remove the electrical receptacle. Put your fingers in the hole and gently pull. The nails will come out.
While you have it open, tighten up the pop up retention collar.

I did not do anything to the cabinet other than pull it out when I leveled the table (that tells you there is no support back there; just the face of the cabinet). The screws that attach the frame to the floor will hold the cabinet in place; the floor supports most of the load. I think it would take a lot of disassembly to reinforce the cabinet.
