Sorry if this has been discussed before. I have a real issue plugging and unplugging my 50 amp cords, I know I want them tight to not disconnect when needed but mine require way too much effort to unplug for this old guy. what do I need ??

A light coat of dielectric grease (AKA tune up grease) might help. I use it on most vehicle electrical connections that I take apart; including the connectors between the truck and RV. Protects the connector from moisture/corrosion and makes future disassembly easier; a light coat is all you need; a tube should last years.

Dielectric Grease

My challenge is pulling the 50 amp cable head out of my Power Watchdog surge protector.
I have to try to get a foot on one end and sort of rock it back and forth while pulling up. It is not easy!
I would like to know if there is a proper spray lube to use, or maybe a small amount of silicone grease…without adversely affecting the connection.

Edit: I see that ScottZ answered 1 minute before I posted…I like his answer.

JMO of course, but I never unplug our Watchdog from the power cord. I unplug the Watchdog from the pedestal, but always keep the Watchdog plugged into the power cord from the trailer. Keeps the contacts from getting loose from plugging and unplugging all the time. And lessens the chance you'll leave with your Watchdog plugged into the pedestal. :) Maybe unplug at the end of the year to clean the plugs, but that's it.

Same for me, except mine is a Progressive EMS. I never unplug it from the power cord to the camper. It stays, I just unplug the EMS from the shore power source. Works for me.

I have a 2021 Montana 3791RD with the power cord that reals up. And there is no way to leave the watch dog hooked up. So what I do is. I use a small rod and slide it through the pull handle of the watch dog and then step on the rod. I then grab the “T” handle of the roll up cord and pull. It makes it easy. Just another thought. Good luck.
