A member discovered a broken axle hanger bracket on their Montana while changing tires, fortunately catching the issue before any major damage occurred. They referenced a repair video and asked if bracing could be added to existing hangers or if all hangers needed replacement. Several RVers recommended using Lippert angle brackets for reinforcement, with one sharing success after having both the brackets and broken cross braces professionally welded. took the wheels off of our Montana yesterday to go get new tires mounted.... and found an axle hanging in the air :(
Fortunately, I don't think it was broken long as not much damage or anything chewed up that I can find underneath. At least it was found in the shed and not broken and dragging down the road......

I saw the video posted by Retired and Rollin... that looks like a great repair.
Is there any other type of repair recommended? And do I need to remove/replace the other 3 hangers to do that repair?
Didn't know if the bracing could be added to the existing hangers? I am going to try and google the number on the one bracket I can see in the video to see what comes up.

I will be having a welder come to do the repair... I do some welding and repairs on our equipment but I am not as confident in my skills for this trailer repair.

Any suggestions or ideas welcome.
Thank you

I purchased braces for the u-frame from Lippert and had each welded. The attachment had more information.

We also had the lippery Angle brackets installed after breaking a leaf spring Hanger. I took the coroplast down and added extra insulation and sealed up holes and gaps in the frame. I found the cross braces above the axles had broken off at the welds. The mobile welder installed the Lippert angle brackets then welded the cross braces back on.
Bottom line, it's worth the extra effort to drop the coroplast ans inspect.

I had this happen in Mexico at a beach campground. The mobile welder, while doing the bracket weld onto the frame burnt a hole in an hydraulic line. I had to hunt down a new line and install it. Before your welder starts, make sure there are no electrical or hydraulic lines touching the frame. .
