We are looking for a better cover for our 2015 3160. We have been using the same brand for the past 10 years but never get more than 2 years out of their top-end model. We store it in an open lot in Central California where the temp averages 93 in the summer. Never below freezing in the winter. By the second year, it tears easily and the area over the front cap gets very and tears with the slightest tug in installation. Once torn, the wind opens up the entire front.

What seems to be working for you all?

Thanks.

Use the google search above to search for past threads on the subject.
Also perform the same search at IRV2. You can use the same sign in credentials as you use here. Years ago I considered a cover for our RV at the time, but the wind here would beat the thing to shreds in no time…not to mention they are heavy and I am not young and fearless - not really able to handle that bulk and weight on the roof any longer.

I had a cover for my 2016 3791RD. Purchased the cover in 2017 for $400+. Water resistant, breathable, uv protection, etc. Very heavy cover for 42’ 5th wheel. I think it lasted 3 years before the sun destroyed it. Never used a cover again.

My RV Dealer told me to save my money. I have had a 5th wheel rv since 1997, sets outside 365 days a year during Wisconsin winters.
Gets a cleaning and polishing every spring.

DFRYK - I store mine in the Central Valley of California. too. And it is close to you. I agree with AZ Traveler, no cover is the best cover. The heat generated under the cover will exceed the Valley temps in the summer. This heat will affect the siding, roof, decals, etc. Using the RV cover will, exponentially, decrease the life of your RV's exterior. Especially in the Valley!

If you can, you could store it in a pole barn or the RV Metal Car Port; you want it in the shade. The temps in which the RV is stored need to be managed when it is hot outside.

Also, I agree with TR that every year you have it cleaned and polished. I have mine deep cleaned by ABC Detailing in Sacramento Best Mobile Detail Serving Greater Sacramento, it is a mobile service. Excellent job each and every time. They ceramic coated my RV a few years back and it still looks good! I do take mine to Sacramento for the cleaning... If desired, PM me and I can give you the details.
