An RVer reported that the bedroom A/C in a 2018 Montana High Country HM381TH would click on, but the compressor would not appear to start during hot Florida weather. Bedroom ac unit is not working. It seems to click on but the compressor doesn’t seem to be working. Any ideas HELP it’s hot in Florida!!!!!

Way to broad of problems that could be causing your symptom. Anything from a bad compressor ($$$$$), to a bad wire connection ($). If you end up replacing the whole A/C, seriously consider a replacement RV A/C that has an Inverter, like a residential mini-split. If you are stationary or permanent location, consider an actual residential mini-split. So do not short change yourself when dealing with Florida heat and humidity. I added a mini-split to my mobile home in Naples, Fl., just for the dehumidification benefits. The important word to remember is "Inverter", for energy efficiency.

There are typically 2 capacitors on your unit. If you had to replace one, you should replace both if you have two. The other is probably weak as well. I had same issue and RV tech advised to replace both since you already have the unit open and tech is up there. Doesn’t take long. They are not expensive, largest expense is labor unless you do it yourself. Not a DIY for me. Glad it’s fixed. Some places will just try to sell you a whole new A/C unit.
