Hi all,

My wife and I own a 2015 3610RL.

We are wondering if any of you have insulated the basement ceiling (between the aluminum beams)

Pic attached

If you have, what type insulation did you use and any installation tips.

Finally, if you added the insulation did it make a noticeable improvement in maintaining temp in bedroom area?

Thanks in advance

Our rig is the same. With the un-insulated area in the front and the area behind the pass through practically wide open below where the water heater is, I don't think you will gain much. You have a heat duct that goes into the pass through which helps, and I thought about the same thing to try to close up all the openings, not only for heat but also for mice, but the hassle just was overwhelming, and possibly would cause other problems. You might gain a little if you just used insulating rigid foam board on the ceiling of the pass through, but you will still have the aluminum beams that will conduct heat and cold, but there could be an improvement. Hope you are successful in making it work.

Here's an old post of mine ... maybe not titled well ... "design flaw", but my post addresses a continuing issue with the dropped framed Montana's. The pass thru storage is by no means closed off from the exterior weather. The underbelly isn't air tight, and the gap between the underbelly and rear storage wall (once the wall is removed for access) is good sized. Some people have put thick Styrofoam in-between the floor beams as best they could, but like Bob mentioned, you'll still have very conductive aluminum beams. Without plugging up the good sized gaps as seen in my old post ... you likely won't gain a whole lot. The front storage area beneath the front closet isn't any better as far as sealed to the weather. Lotsa gap around the landing gear.
