I know, I know. I just need to vent a bit. Today (much like the last several days) out of the first 12 threads, 7 were about rallys. Do we really need so much about something happening in 6 months? Two other threads were people buying or selling montanas.
That leave 3 about problems, questions, etc about our rigs.
I just get tired of having to skim over things day after day that are relevant to maybe 200 members.
Sorry.

To try to answer you with; many members of MOC only go on this site to see info about the various regional rallies and the national rally to start planning and making arrangements. For those still actively working, they need to plan months out if not more, so more comments are made with questions and responses. That's pretty much why the threads usually list so much about rallies.

There are all kinds of information on MOC which some find confusing and not pertinent to them or an interest to them. My family for one pretty much does the same thing about the rallies. My OWN PERSONAL opinion is that the MOC forum could definitely use a cleaning out and discarding of topics and information, some of which hasn't been used for several years based on the dates of posts. A reorganization of the website, if possible, to somehow list rally info separate from all other threads, maybe? When it comes to RV issues and concerns, we are fortunate to have many friends that we interact with in person, talk with and share, so seldom get on the MOC forum if we have 5th wheel specific questions. I hope you enjoy the information that you do find interesting and maybe helpful.

Take care,

Don't look at the "recent threads" on the left side of the home page. Go directly to the "general discussion" forum and you get around all that other stuff. I skip it too.

You know there is a separate forum on here for rallies right?

Definitely know that as we've been familiar with the MOC forum for several years. The original poster was talking about the "recent threads" list on the right side of the home page and that they don't like seeing all the rally info on the thread more than other info.

I usually check in several times per day and I only pay attention to the RECENT THREADS section…easiest way for me to go thru the threads and find a topic I might contribute. I have not scrolled thru the main menu topics in a long time. I don’t mind all the rally threads. Since we can’t attend a rally this year it’s easy to skip those. I think it’s important for the folks attending a rally to see new activity.

I don’t agree that the forum needs to be restructured or have some topics re-organized. Since I only look at RECENT THREADS, or sometimes NEW POSTS, I don’t worry about the main menu topics, until I have a question to post - then I try to put the question in the appropriate main menu topics.

Another note about restructuring/reorganizing the forum…I do not like the NEW look and feel of The Keystone Owners Forum. I have lost interest in it. I hope this forum (as well as IRV2) does not follow that example. That would be Ba Humbug for me!

I haven't seen any format changes to the MOC since I joined 3 years ago. What has changed for you?

Looks like the site is systematically updating the different forums to a new format. I, too, am on the Keystone Forum. I've figured out how to navigate it and find it fairly user friendly. But I also agree that the format on this forum is preferable. My guess is that it will eventually change so getting used to the new format on a different forum is a leg up.

It’s just that time of year. Rally posting always increase quite a bit for 2-3 months in the spring. I always cling on new posts and quickly scan the subject lines. And simply skip any subject I have no current interest in.

The main reason that there is so much Rally information on the MOC Forum is because if you have never been to one or even if you have, it is not an easy job to be Wagon Master or on the Wagon Master Team. The registration for the Rally is early this year so those dealing with the Rally can have an idea as to what the interests are and to keep an eye on what is going on with the membership and how they feel about the Rally. There will be a whole lot more posts/threads coming out concerning the Fall Rally all the way up to September. If you go into the past National Fall Rally section of the Forum and go into the previous years and see what has been posted under each years. you will see that there have been and will be a lot of postings concerning it.

Besides the National Fall Rally there are postings concerning five other Regional Rallies that are coming up starting next month and continuing all the way past the National Fall Rally into October and even into next year counting the Circling of the Montana's at Quartzite, AZ.

The daily or current postings or threads are what comes up over the day or the week on the right hand side of the Forum topics. As has been stated previously if you want up to date items that is where you will find them. If you want other topics/posting go to the General Topic section or any of the other multiple sections of the Forum and check them out. As folks have stated just skip the present or latest topics if you aren't interested and go to the Main Forum pages/topics and check them out. This is a FREE Forum folks and the MOC is a FREE group. No dues are paid to belong or get this Forum over the internet.

Concerning the Keystone Owners Forum, that is a totally separate Forum and has no connection with the MOC Forum and the Montana Owners Group on Facebook is a separate site also not connected to the MOC Forum at all except for having members of MOC involved and administrating it for your convenience and viewing.

Ok, I'm stepping down off my soapbox!

It’s easy I just skip over the threads I’m not interested in. Someone must be interested in them because people respond to them.

I wasn't quite clear on my original post. I always do a 'recent post' look see. And I have been to a national and a western region rally. I just don't recall seeing > 50% of the first page every day that is rally stuff.
I love all the other threads about problems, camping, etc; so don't get me wrong.

l have never attended any of the Montana rallies as I am always occupied with other activities during these times (like camp ground hosting over a longer period of time). So for me, the rally information is not pertinent to anything I'm engaged in. But I do understand the rallies are a big endeavor, take lots of planning, and requires lots and lots of help for both those planning and those attending. It is important for those involved to be informed as soon as possible (a year in advance), because trip planning and life experiences are not as clean cut as everyone hopes.

As far as the forum site, if you notice, all the rally information is in their sub-category (Annual MOC Rallies and Previous Annual MOC North American Rallies). If the user of these forums selects "Today's Posts" or "New Posts" then yes, those threads will appear in the list in the descending order in which the last post was posted. However, if you truly do not want to see these posts then the user can always drop down into the main forum index page and select the categories most interested in, skipping over the MOC Rallies completely.

And if interested in a single topic, there is always the "search" feature that will display related posts to the key words entered that will be across all forum sub-divisions.

Another option, instead of clicking on "latest" post, the "newest" post returns even a more slimmed down list.

And of course, if using the "Today's" post feature, one can still, always, just skip over the forum topics NOT interested in.

It has to be remembered, this is a free forum site to any user. "Beggars can't be choosers!"

It's a free site providing a lot of value. IMHO, the good far outweighs the bad by a huge margin.

I don't mind wading through the things that don't currently interest me. I always click on Today's Posts, then quickly scan the number of replies to see which ones have the least activity. Many replies usually tells me that this thread has been on top of the list many times. If I haven't spoken into it before then I'm not likely to now to I just ignore it. The fact that some threads keep coming back tells me that someone has interest in it. That's what it's here for.

It just takes a couple of seconds to spot topics of current interest. I don't see that as a big deal.

Like MikenDebbie, I too only use the "Recent Threads" topics in the right panel. It shows up to 16 Threads that have been updated since I last looked. I usually look at least a couple of times a day and the 16 limit has not been an issue very often. If the list is populated with 16" Unread" Threads, I read the ones I am interested in and then click on "Today's Posts" to see the remainder.

Trying to go through each sub-category to find updated Threads is waste of time IMO . The "Recent Topics" pane does that work for me. Plus, members often store their new Thread in an incorrect sub-category which most members never look at. For example: the Forum Help | Announcements | Suggestion Box sub-category currently has 17 Threads which do not belong there (obviously the Mods have not been moving them to more correct sub-categories ).

The "Recent Topics" pane lists all those misplaced Threads. And even better, when they get moved to a more appropriate sub-category, "Recent Topics" will tell you if they are updated without hunting for it.

Sorry.

And I thought we had collaborated and resolved all possible issues with tires, mattresses, air conditioners, frame flex, etc. I also thought by now all the Montana owners had proactively put in all the fixes and all was right with the world.

Funny!:D
Also, everyone don't get me wrong about all the rally info. To me it just seems like there are a lot more than there were in the past. Maybe I am just forgetful!

Ok, I take back what I said about being forgetful! I just counted and there are 9, yes NINE threads on the fall rally. REallY?????
