Awning almost covering door

Hi All.
We have not encountered any rain on our trip in our 5th wheel until the last month. Now we have had many rain days and noticed that the awning does not cover the whole door causing us to get wet when entering and exiting. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thank you for any suggestions?

Had that on both of our Monty's and could never figure a fix since there is no room to move the awning due to the slide being right there.

Nature of the beast.

How about the outside door handle being in the middle of the door? Why not remote it to the lower half of the door so it can be reached from the ground. It’s done on large semi trucks. No so we have to clime a step or two unlatch the door back down the steps open the door and then re climb the steps and enter. All the while getting rained on because heaven forbid they (all manufacturers) can’t seam to see moving the door forward a bit would solve the problem.

Ok rant done.

This is our first trailer with this problem. We knew it when we bought it. You can tell just by looking at the awning that it's not going to keep you entirely dry at the doorway. It's also pretty common with all manufacturers with a slide right next to the door.

We love our rig and would definately prefer better coverage at the door. However, we also just accept that "it is what it is".

Move to AZ, when it rains you will enjoy it so much that you want to stand in it.

They do make awning shade end pieces that you connect to the outer edge or roller of the awning and place a hook on the unit at the door side. This does stop some of the rain from coming in and it also shades the door from that gap between the slide and the door itself. I'm sure if you could cut a light weight tarp to fit that same space it would protect one from the rains. The only problem is that the awning would have to be out to connect this. If you have any wind what so ever from the rain storm, you stand the chance of the awning being blown up and over from the winds.

you can have a canvas shop make an end drop to your awning frame which hangs from a separate pole which installs in seconds if made right. had one made and no more wetness.

It is in the middle of the door when you are on the inside. If the latch was any lower it would be at the bottom of the door on the inside. That would be more impractical IMHO.

Used the big Golf umbrella bent the one side flat to the camper, tied the handle to the awning arm with bungee cord, looks funny but works in a pinch.
There will be no excuses good enough to getting the wife`s hair wet after 45 minutes in the bathroom to go out to a show.

Screen room would also fit better if door was located under awning
