Same thing happened to us. Our keys were inside, including our locked truck keys. We were just going out to have a brewski under the awning. Ended up having to break in(the basement where my tools were was unlocked). Couldn't believe how easy it was. Just used a common screwdriver between door and jam and then the handle. Popped right open. Put a small dent in the aluminum door trim and broke the door lock. Was going to replace the lock set but then I thought it would eventually happen again, being how I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. So now it's just the deadbolt to lock the door and you must have your keys to lock it. I suppose there is a way to disable the door lock without having to break something. But,,,, it worked for us.
