Good evening all,
Has anyone one put a hitch on the back of a 3582rl or a trailer with a similar unit. It has the rear fresh water tank.
It is a 2015, it has the fiberglass contoured rear cap. I want to carry a pair of electric bikes,80lbs each.
Thanks for any advice

Best to look for an e-bike rated hitch that’s designed for using in the rear hitch. Our Swagman is rated for 2 x 70lb bikes. They have heavier duty models. Hollywood racks are popular.

You’ll prob want a rack with a threaded pin or something that tightens the rack to the hitch tube to eliminate the rack bouncing in the tube.

With a fiberglass cap, you may need a 4-6 inch hitch extender to avoid the rack rubbing on the cap. It really depends on the rack’s tube length and how the upright is designed and positioned. We have a cap so I bought a 2ft hitch tube and drilled it and added a welded nut for the threaded pin. Swapped this with the factory rack tube. (The new tube has 1/4” walls so no worries it will collapse with the extra length). If you get an extender, you’ll probably want a tightener for it too as the extra joint makes for another place to bounce.

Edit: Besides the rack, you may want extra ways to lock the bikes besides what the racks provide and remove the batteries when not in use. We’ve been to a couple campgrounds where e-bike thefts (by outsiders getting into the park) are pretty common. Even an extra cable or light chain is pretty easy to defeat with bolt cutters. With some bikes approaching $2K, they’re a hot item.

I installed a hitch on the rear of my 2006 13703 universal hitch from. 300 lbs weight 3000 pound pulling. I had to cut 1/2 inch off cross member water tank support and 3/4 inch off floor support on left and right side to get brackets in drill holes for support. Then install and reweld to cross members to brackets. Was a little time consuming. But do able. I’m in my 70’s.
