I read recently that we should ensure our tire wheels are rated for the PSI the tires will be inflated to. This sounds fundamental but it got me to thinking. Over the period of about 6 months I had 2 tire blowouts. Besides the damage to the rig which insurance took care of. I found out that the issue was not with the tires but the wheels themselves. They were leaking and at the time I did not have a tire minder.
After the second failure I did a couple of things, 1) I purchased a Tire Minder. 2) I replaced all four Rims with the same make model as they were original equipment but 15 years newer. As I liked the looks... I also decided to replace all 4 tires and I upgraded the load range to G. which took the recommended cold PSI from 80 to 110. Wondering if their are any downsides to the change? I am looking for the rating on the new wheels to confirm their PSI rating, what else if anything should I be looking at since I made the change. Thanks in advance for any feedback...
