3400RL vs. 3650RK

My wife and I are thinking about trading in our 2004 Montana 2955RL for one of the above. I prefer the 3400RL because I like the bigger basement storage and the rear desk area. I also think that you go in and out of a camper the most to go to the kitchen and the 3400's kitchen is linolium. This way you don't get those light tan rugs dirty. My wife likes the 3650RK just because she thinks the floorplan is cool looking. Any input would be appreciated about both these floor plans. Its a lot of money to spend thats why I throwing it out there for discussion. Thank you

HEDGEHOG, My wife and I have a 3650RK and she is right in love with the floor plan. We have looked at newer models but she has not found anything that compares to the 3650RK in her book. So I guess if she is happy then I am happy. You know the old saying that "IF THE MOMMA AIN'T HAPPY THEN NOBODY'S HAPPY". Well I fully subscribe to that philosophy. But in the end you have to decide what works best for both of you. Good Luck.
Marshall.

Hedgehog, I thought for sure Cheryl would want the 3650RK, with all the counter space and such. She spends alot of time in the kitchen. SHe also is a tremendous cook (read: natural ability in this area). She has received accolades all her life on her cooking/homemaking talent. So I thought this floor plan would be a natural.

We walked into one and she said, "Nope. I don't plan on spending time in the kitchen when we are in our new Montana. I want more living space." To say I was shocked is an understatement.

Our 2007 3400RL is coming out of the plant July 17th. She liked the obvious space of the 3400. The little extra counter space didn't hurt, though.

hedgehog, Dano & I have the 3000RK and absolutely love it. Both of the ones you are considering are bigger than we needed, BUT, if we ever trade in it would most definately be the 3650RK. I don't like going into the "House" thru the kitchen. But that's just me. We put down a runner rug in ours to save the carpet. The 3650RK is such an awesome floorplan!! (IMO) I call it the 3000RK's big sister. :D

We also put runner rugs in our current Montana, I just think that the basement compartment is too small in the 3650RK. But you guys bring up a good point, IF MOMMA AINT HAPPY, THEN NOBODY'S HAPPY.

The 3650 definitely has a lack of storage, and if you are spending a lot of time in your Montana storage will be at a premium

We looked at the 3650RK and at first we thought this was it, but then saw the 3400RL and noticed the bigger living room with computer desk and decided to go with the 3400RL. DW likes the wrap-around counter space and the living room set up. The 3650RK is a really nice 5er. I also agree with saying IF MOMMA AINT HAPPY, THEN NOBODY'S HAPPY.

dsprik..congrats on your 2007 3400RL!

Happy RVing!!

We looked closely at both and bought the 3400. At first glance the 3650 appears to be bigger but the tape measure tells the tale..3400 has more storage and counter space/Helen wanted counter space and storage space..the 3400 fit the bill.

Thanks, Lou! It's been an interesting journey, with some interesting hurdles. I had a one banker tell me (just before they denied financing on this 3400) that I should write a book on my experiences.

We are really excited as the time draws closer. We get to play around in Rich and Helen's brand new 3400 in Mackinaw City the weekend just before we go get ours. Also will be visiting with Steve and Patty Emmel there.

I like the open floor plan that the 3400RL provides. I have has as many as 10 people staying in my coach for a weekend. We all fit!! After spending some time in all the Montana's, I really liked the way that the 3400RL did not "break" up each living area. I wanted to be able to have guests stay and still be able to socialize while either in the kitchen, living room or while sitting at the kitchen table. Best of luck on your final decision, either way its a Montana! How could you go wrong??

My wife 3400RL, and the 3650RK. She love the 3650RK floor plan the main point she does not want to enter the house thru the kitchen. As we took more and more time looking at each floor plan the 3400RL fits our life style better.
There is more space in the living rm area.
The computer desk is needed Because I work on the road.
You can get to the refg. while on the road and do not have to open a slide.
The big window in rear of living rm. is nice.

We have had are 3400RL since march we have been on 2 two weeks trips and 1 five days trip and we are leaving sunday for a five trip, this is the right for us.

We were perfectly happy with our little 30 footer till I got "the urge"[:0]. Well, when I said "let's just go look she said OK but no buying". That was till she saw the 3650 kitchen. She fell in love with it and the rest is history..[8D]Go with what makes you happy:D

(PS, I even had to buy a new truck to pull it:D:D:D)

Those are both beautiful units. It comes down to what will suit your needs best, and the planning and looking is so much fun!! Good luck and enjoy the journey.

We looked for 5 years because we knew when Paul would be retiring and so we thought we had seen them all. When I was in the hospital (4 months) he would bring me the booklets to look at. We thought we had settled on the Alpenlite. I wasn't really all that happy about it but Paul was and after all he was the one that would be paying the money for it. When I got out of the hospital we went down to buy the Alpenlite. While there I turned around and saw a bunch of Montana's on the next lot. So I told Paul, wait, lets go and look just one more time at these. Wellllll, that was that. We walked into the 3650 and Paul didn't like the idea of all the weight being in the rear end of the coach. So the next in line was the 3400. The minute we walked into that one I knew and so did Paul that this was what we wanted. We have never looked back and wished we had gotten any of the others. Everything is perfect for us. Now that is what you have to do is feel which one fits you. I can't explain it, it just feels right that's all I can say.

Both the 3400 and the 3650rk are nice units and I would have been happpy with either one of them Marsha decided on the 3650rk and we love it

One of the ways that may help in the decision making process is to determine how you are going to use it, which model gives you the storage space and usefulness you need for a long period of time, as you said, it is a lot of money, and you can't make an emotional decision - even if it makes everyone happy at the moment - are ya'll going to be happy after you have been in it a few months?...(I absolutely did not want the 3400; but when I checked the storage unit for unit; I changed my mind - if you are going full time or extended time, that's important in my book)

Enjoy whichever one you choose.
