A new member asked which water filter canister is used in a 2026 Montana 3100RL. Members suggested checking the storage compartment and explained that PDI means Pre Delivery Inspection, with comments that it is important to review RV systems before final purchase paperwork.

  • One member said the canister brand may not matter if it uses a common 2.5 inch by 10 inch filter element, since those are widely available in different types such as mesh and carbon block.

Welcome to the forum, you didn't find that out on the PDI, look in the storage compartment.

Pre Delivery Inspection I think.
That is where the dealer’s TOP guy Ray goes out in the parking lot with you and demonstrates everything on the coach and what all the buttons do - and says Oooo that was not supposed to spark like that Let me call a tech and we’ll get that checked out real quick and explains what you want to be careful of with these rigs…then asks if you have any questions…thankyou for buying the coach from us…and heres my card…you just call if you need anything…any time day or night…i always have my phone with me. Be sure to call the number in a week or so to make sure you dont get a voicemail “Ray is no longer employed by Smith RV - please call the main number for sales or service”.

I just made all of that up…that didnt really happen to me…not exactly.

thanks but what's a PDI
As Mike wrote, it is a Pre Delivery Inspection checklist. It is extremely important you thoroughly check out the RV *BEFORE* you sign the final paperwork and handover money. Getting things repaired before the sale is SO MUCH EASIER than post sale. There are hundreds of stories here on the MOC about the change in the dealership repair services once you have bought the rig and driven away.

Here is a link to a pretty complete PDI checklist. It, along with others, is stored in the Resources section here on the MOC,

The brand of the canister likely doesn't matter, I believe Pentair actually makes many of them sold under different labels. If it's a 2.5" X 10" element, they're generic which is good because they are widely available in a variety of different mesh sizes and specialties like carbon block. The Blutech filters have a unique element that has to be bought from them but are easily recognizable.

Thank appreciate the advise. I have ordered an inexpensive 2.5"x10 to test before I go out and make a larger order.
