Getting ready to ink the deal on a 07 BHD...any suggestions ??

I have asked for :

2 BATTERIES
TV's in ALL locations
Complete SERVICE
WATER HOSE
SEWER HOSE

Anything else that SHOULD BE INCLUDED ???

HOW EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Short warning: Those sewer hoses from the dealers that are thrown in for the "deal", well, most are rather junky, go buy a GOOD one at a CW or other camping store outlet!

AND CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go forth and enjoy that new rig! :D

Do you have a hitch and a brake controller?

Voumard....when you do your walkthrough....make sure the water heater bypass valve is open. I burned out the elec. element at the dealer because no water was in the h/w tank. If the tank is not filling, you have to remove a basement panel to check the bypass. The dealer didn't catch it and poof!! Also, make sure the cabinet door above the sink does not hit the ceiling fan when you open it..... Actually spin the fan....open the door. My door had to be lowered about 1/8" to clear the fan. As you and I have discussed... I have had some issues with my BHD. I still feel the best thing I did was install a Trailair pin box. All I can say is wow!! What a difference. Maybe you could get the dealer to make you some sort of deal on the hitch. The only other thing I am considering is a 2nd a/c for the bedroom. It gets quite hot around here and that would be nice, as the bedroom area can get quite warm. I have two batteries also and that has served me well while boondocking for the weekend. Oh, one other thing. I kept blowing the inline fuse for the front landing gear. I discovered the factory/dealer installed a 15 amp fuse instead of the needed 30 amp. No problems since I put in the 30amp. Good luck on your purchase. Even though I have had issues, they have been resolved either by me or dealer and I still like the fiver. It tows great and works well for our family.

I also have the 07BHD.I have Full vent fans in each vent with a max air cover over the bathroom this one never gets closed. When I made my deal I told the dealer that I would leave the unit there for a week ro so just so I could check things out so I would not have to bring it back for problems. I found every problem it had. My propane tanks rubbed other metal, the door to the back bedroom opened in not out,(changed to open out against the bunkbed wall)the slides were out of alinement, shower leaked, calking on roof did not seal everything, other problems also but I'm handy with tools. I live full time in mine and LOVE it. I live in the S.F. bay area and during the heat spell up to 115 I found the AC would have to be on all day from the morning to keep it cool. There is more but I won't go on. All in all I love my unit.:D

I am not familiar with the BHD so don't know if it is TT or FW. If a FW, get them to throw in a lube plate so you won't have to grease the pinbox / hitch plate.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

What model is a BHD? I used the washer/dryer combo as a big negotiation add-on. Good luck

Thanks everyone for your words of advise... I will have a check list ready in hand for the walk thru. I expect to find some items that need to be addressed - before we pull out of the dealer. A SHAKE DOWN TRIP should prove informative.

I looked long and hard before moving forward. The floor plan fits our needs and we already have the FORD PSD in the family. I called KEYSTONE a couple of times, they seem to be helpful. Having the forum is a real PLUS. We did opt for a built in ONAN GEN. as we do a fair amount of camping in BASEBALL PARKING LOTS, as we have a 11 year old on a TRAVEL BALL CLUB, We should have the 5th just in time for a week end TOURNEY in RENO, I'll see how the FORD handles INTERSTATE 80 over DONNER SUMMIT.

Thanks again for the help - Rodney

Pretty exciting Rodney!! I take it that the Onan gen. will fit in the front compartment? I am curious what model you decided to go with. I have never measured that area since I use my Honda EU2000i's when I need a genny. Be sure to update us on your experience.

Yes--The ONAN will be in the front compartment. Giving up some space...but a good trade off. We have the LP3600 model, listed at 30 amps buring not quite a .7 of LP per hour at full load.
