12 volt wiring

We have a 2010 Montana 347tht. I was looking at the fuse panel, it says do not put any fuse in larger than the ones in it now. Then it says on the other side of the sheet that 1&2 are 30A and 3-15 are 20A. Now it has 15A in 1-14 and a 20A in number 15. Sounds like double talk, or am I missing something. Thank You

I would first check to see what the fuses are for. The sheet they gave you may not even be the right one for your trailer.wouldn't be the first time.

I interpret that to mean 1 & 2 are good for 30 amps and could be used at time of manufacture for such a circuit. But there is only 15A in now and you should replace it with a 15 if it blows, not with a 30A. Same with the rest. Only replace with the same amperage fuse as what's in now.

I should have said that the paper is glued to the fuse panel.

Likely it is referring to capability rather than actual load requirement.I agree with the wise advice already given... replace a fuse with another one of the same type and rating.

My thoughts are if they are labeled for a higher rating, then it should be okay to go higher. I wouldn't be surprised if the factory put in lower rated fuses just to save cost. Often the higher rated fuses are a little more expensive. Multiply this by the thousands of fuses they install, then you'll understand my thoughts that the factory would go a cheaper route. They seem to do that with lots of things.

Kinda like my lamps. Most say maximum 60 watt and the lamps will have 40 or 25 watt bulb.

If there is NO label, then replace with an exact replacement and hope the last replacement was not for a lesser rating or you'll be blowing fuses and thinking there's a problem.
