Glad to be here
Hi everyone,
We've been Montana owners since 2010 when we purchased a slightly used Montana Mountaineer (pictured below.) Sorry, just now getting around to joining the forum. We are now both retired teachers and life itself has been our greatest teacher. We recently moved to Minnesota to be close to grandkids and found a great spot just outside of town to store the rig over the past winter. Lots of snow this year translates into lots of water in the spring, so we "traded" our new lake cabin in for a new model 310RE Montana High Country (thank god for comprehensive insurance, Pat wanted a new one anyway.) Our new rig will be setup for solar by the end of summer just like the old one; solar has freed us from the RV park. We will miss the lake cabin but the new rig is great. We are looking forward to next winter in a dryer and warmer camping spot in Arizona. Any tips on boondocking in Arizona both on BLM land and in county/state/national parks would be greatly appreciated. Hope to see some of you at the annual Quartzsite circle in January.

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your new unit! Think about joining fellow MOC members at the 2019 Fall Rally to be held this September in Goshen, IN (birthplace of your new unit). If you might be interested in joining the Fall Rally MOC'ers check out the posting here on the Forum titled 2019 Fall Rally Registration. Follow the instructions and register but don't wait to long, if you're interested because the limit of units is 200 for this rally and there are already 170+ registered to attend. Enjoy that new unit and hope to see you in Goshen!

Remember most state and national parks have around a 2 week limit for a stay.
I think north of Apache Junction, AZ there is a state and county park with camping. I think they may have sites with just water or nothing (along with new FHU sites). In the summer there are several places up on the Rim (between Payson and Heber) that have boon docking. We tried boondocking with a genny for the first time at one of the NFS parks in that area. Nice place as there are TALL trees and cool temps.
Have fun.

Thanks for the invite. We have friends that will be there (littlespud). We have an extended August trip planned to Glacier, Banff, Jasper and The North West that will take up the whole month, so the timing doesn't work for us this year. Sounds like a good time to meet new people and get aquainted.

Thanks We will look into those. We mostly plan on being there in late winter - early spring. Want to explore the Canyon area and places around flagstaff. We mostly depend on solar, but also have a backup gen. I carry an extra 35 gal. water tank for fetching water.

Congrats, I have a 2017 310RE HC , bought as a hold over last spring. Like the rig very much once we get the bugs worked out. Just a little advice, make sure you have the drip pans installed on your electric slide motors they may leak oil if they get warm and a little oil will drip on your rubber roof of your slide and bubble it up if the pans aren't installed
