Hiya. : ) New here

Hi - not an RV owner yet but, after 5 - 6 years of LOTS of research, thought, planning, and so forth, my husband and I plan on purchasing a 2018 Montana 3790RD along with a big honkiní something-or-other diesel dually - Chevy, GMC, or Ford - both later this year likely, in order to begin full-timing starting 2019 after his early retirement, selling our house, most of our possessions, etc. Started down-sizing already - boy, thatís an exhaustive process! - but, I figure starting a year ahead will give reasonable time to donate-sell-give away most everything we have, and then leave time for a good spruce up of our 115-yr-old domicile.

Anyhow, it was suggested to me to sign up for forums that support the brand of RV we plan on purchasing so, here we are. : ) We are brand-spankin new to RVing though not to camping (tent and a motorcycle pop-up pulled behind a beautiful 2007 Goldwing). We plan on this RV to be our only one - we donít want to start smaller and work up, because we arenít going to finance - donít want big debt going into retirement. So, though that is a great idea to introduce yourself into RVing, thatís not our plan. Plus, not interested in used rigs (weíve already considered that, got input back and forth in other forums weíre members of, and decided new was most suited for our needs). My husband is super handy as well so, we likely wonít freak too much at what everyone says to expect about fixes connected with new rigs.

So, thatís our synopsized story - I know weíll get lots of good info from a great resource, here! Thanks!!

Thanks K0LCB - you’re the second warning I’ve gotten. : ) LOL I’ll be sure to take it all in with a grain of salt.

Thanks to DarMar too - that’s what I’m hoping! : )

Welcome to the forum! Hope this lifestyle is as good for you as it is for us. Also, don't forget Dodge also makes trucks. Ours has done us right for 8 years of full timing and over 70,000 towing miles.

Thanks, DQ. Great that youíve gotten such good use out of your vehicle! I think my husband might consider them IF he hadnít had such bad luck with them over the years as work vehicles - heís an outside worker for a utility and Dodge trucks and vans were their fleet vehicles for years and he and his co-workers had tons and tons of issues with them - he wonít consider them because of that. My daughter also had a brand new Dodge 1500 RAM and that had lots of problems, too - she didnít even keep it two years.

Though I know ALOT of folks who tow RVs use them and have absolutely no problems but, the two personal experiences weíve had with Dodges were a mess so, thatís one we likely wonít look at. Glad yours is doing all right, though!

Welcome! This is a wonderful place to learn all sorts of things! We love our rig and will be going full-time as of 5/1! We're so excited. We have a 2002 Ford F350 Turbo Diesel and love it. It still runs great and we get 10-11 mpg when towing!

Don't hesitate to ask anything you need to know, even if it seems silly! Remember, the only dumb question is the one you didn't ask!

Welcome to the forum, this is a great place to learn and share. Since you are so new to RVing, it might be good to rent a few times to help sort out what is important. Tough to rent 5th wheels but you might do a class a or c.

We thought about doing that AZ but, with our schedules not meshing for time off together plus the expense of it, it’s not feasible while working. We’re just gonna jump in and make it work! : ) When I was younger, I was a single parent and my daughter and I had to move a lot and into some VERY small places due to expenses we couldn’t always meet so, it taught me to be very flexible when it came to living space!

Golfmedik, looks like you have virtually the same set-up weíre looking at - different in the years and not sure of the brand of tow vehicle as yet but, all the same general things. How do you like it all? Any big issues, with rig or TV yet? Thank you!

Wow! Same Old Situation!

Hi there! I just joined today. We just sold our house in Muskegon this month and bought a 3791RD to full time. LOL. We retired early as well (40yrs old) and also are not financing. Small World. Welcome and I'm looking forward to learning a lot in here.

Hiya Miles - yeah that is an interesting coincidence, indeed. You are about 20 yrs younger than us but, that just gives you more time to enjoy. : )

FYI - I watch a crazy amount of videos on the full-time rving thing, and a great resource for younger full-timers is called Excapers which is an offshoot of the huge Escapees group. So, if you already know, forgive the redundancy but, if not, maybe check them out - they may be a great resource!

Anyhow, welcome, and I hope too learn some good stuff, too!

Thanks CarWin - I hope that we can! We have to wait a little while to start - my husband isn’t retiring until likely middle of next year - but, we’re both looking so forward to it!
