Canadian Full Timers!
Hello!! We sold our house 4 months ago, bought a brand new High Country and are full-timing for about 3 months now. No (major) issues yet with our rig, but I am still detecting a strong formaldehyde(?) smell when the trailer is closed up and the AC is on. Anyone else with this problem in the past?
We are headed for Florida for the winter- Bye bye snow!! So happy I found this forum!

Welcome to the forum from Vancouver Island. We've never had the problem with a strong smell in any of our trailers so can't comment on that. We got to Arizona for the winter.

Welcome fellow Canadians to the MOC family. You will glean a wealth of information and friendship during your time here.
The DW, Maureen, is always sensitive to the new trailer smells so we always prepare to let a new unit air out for several weeks before we start camping in it. We have used dryer sheets, febreeze spray and even closed it up with camphor blocks for a period of time and after that remove and open unit up to clear the air for a week or so.
In time though it will dissipate.

Nice to meet you, Darwin and Maureen. Thank you for the suggestions. We were in BC and Alberta during the summer, lots of heat, smoke and dust. Now back in southern Ontario with a heat wave. So not many opportunities to open windows!! In Algonquin Park next month; hopefully a few nice days to air this "house" out.

Good to meet you Bob and Carol. Thank you for your reply. My Montana manual says they do in fact use some formaldehyde in "safe " amounts. I guess it's something I will have to put up with for awhile.

There are lots of RV parks we have stayed which are nice and these are just a few from different parts of the Island:
Pedder Bay RV Resort & Marina near Victoria
Living Forest Oceanside Campground & RV Park, Nanaimo
Salmon Point Resort RV Park & Marina near Campbell River

Hi Granet,
John and I spent 9 days this past August in Okotoks! We stayed at Okotoks Lions Campground and LOVED it. We are seriously thinking about spending a full season there sometime in the next few years. (We have 2 boys who live 20 minutes away in Calgary.)
Do you live full time in Okotoks?
