New to the Club
Hello All,
New to the Montana club! I have been reading on numerous different threads and I must say...you are all a wealth of knowledge. My newlywed wife and I just recently purchased a 2014 Montana HC 338DB! Its layout fits perfectly for our (hopefully sometime in the future) family. My family has always been huge into camping and I thought I would dive in head first with my own 5er! Im using a 2012 GMC duramax 2500HD to pull my 5er.
Any newbie tips, pointers, or advice!?!
Look forward to talking to many of you through the threads.
location is Northwest Ohio if anyone else on here is from around that area!

Congratulations on your new rig and I would think your TV should be fine. You can alway do some checking on the numbers and verify the specifications. I would think it should be fine. Our kids loved camping starting with a Hi-Lo travel trailer through two fifth-wheels.

Were definitely ready for winter to snap and the spring season to come upon us. We got the camper late in the year of 2016 and at the time I did not have the truck. So this spring/summer/fall will be out first round in the camper.
What are some things that I should be making sure are on the up-n-up right from the go?

You might have the wheel bearings greased and brakes adjusted, wet bolts greased , tires checked and aired up and 12 volt batteries checked.

Welcome to the forum. If you have been reading here much, you're well aware of the tire issues many of us have had. If you have E rated ST's, you may want to consider other options before rolling out. Best of luck with your travels this summer and be sure to check in from time to time. You've found the best source of Montana knowledge on the internet, in my opinion. One other thing, buying slightly used is a good strategy. All the new camper bugs should be worked out by now. We bought ours used as well and have been very fortunate with it.

Sambam, thank you for the feedback. What are some other options for tires have people used on the board that has turned been well liked by all? I will have to go home tonight after work and check out which tires I have on there.

My understanding is that the HC's are a bit lighter than the standard Montanas. If this is true, you may be able to replace your ST's with a good LT tire. Many of the folks here with lighter Montanas use them with good results. Check your weights. If your rims are 6-lug, I think it is a good sign you can go that route.
