Buying a gas grill?

Baby Q here the number consideration since we are long timers and carry a lot of "stuff" was size.As far as filling those small propane bottles removing tanks and turning the big bottle upside down to fill then is just not gonna happen.

x2. A lot of hassle for something that is disposable.
OBTW we have a TEK grill from Camping World. It was 50% off AND used a Good Sam club coupon on top of that.

Jim, we live in Colorado at 7500 feet and love our Weber Baby Q. Sounds like you made your decision and I think you'll be happy. The only change we made was buying the small 5 lb refillable tank. Enjoy. Where do you camp in Colorado?

Last year we took a pellet smoker to Colorado. Leaving it at home this year.

Thinking if the Q1200 will go to around 225 degrees on low, add a smoke tube and do ribs on it for a 3-2-1 cook.

Hate to buy a small smoker just for summer in Colorado but I do "need" a new gas grill. Have had 100% satisfaction with Weber stuff and yes it costs more, but..

Weber 1200 for us also. I can't get mine to 225 on low. It's about 350. I cook ribs and stick a beer can in the lid to get it cooler. I could use a pop can but what would be the fun of that...lol.

Ron, we go to a County owned Park,called Palisades Senior RV Park in Gunnison. 60 sites, usually a waiting list for July and August. This will be our 4th year. Open mid May to mid September.

Before Gunnison, spent 3 years @ Colorado Dream Ranch with our RZR. The 9,500' elevation was getting to us, so dropped down to 7,700' @ Gunnison. It is up Co. County Rd 742, about 25 miles north of Almont. Ride from your site, no trailering and miles of trails.

I had the Q1000 thought I need more so I bought the coleman NXT 300 (what a mistake! over priced piece of junk gas hog) went back to the Weber happy again

We had the Napoleon Travel Q2225 and after about 4 years we replaced it this year with the Napoleon Travel Q 285 with a griddle which works great for Bacon n' Eggs. We have a Napoleon at home and it has lasted for years. Quality is similar in the TQ models. Our new 285 has 2 burners so can use indirect heat and it has a higher profile so there is a bit more room between the burner and the grill which provides a little better temperature control. A bit pricey but Very happy with our choice

We got a stainless steel grill from Walmart made by Better Homes & Garden (yeah, I know, they just brand it and I have no idea who actually makes it). Cost about $50 and does okay (runs hot even on lowest setting) but I think the temp gauge reads hot, since I don't seem to overblacken anything.

I use a 20# bulk tank with a propane post. A lantern goes on top of the post and I use the two other fitting for the BBQ and a two burner stove. I think DW likes when I cook outside. If there's a chance of rain or bugs, I put everything on a picnic table inside a large screen room. I've been known to cook in rain, cold, dark and even when the bugs are out. No problem for me, but DW prefers to stay in the rig when I'm doing the cooking.

The only mod I plan is to make a platform where the BBQ will sit. This will prevent the numerous drippings onto the table tops and I will add hooks to keep my utensils nearby and convenient. I have seen things like this but they are too pricey for me and lack some features I'd like to have. I am pretty handy so I can customize something that will be useful AND compact besides inexpensive.

We have used the Q1000 baby Q for 9 years and it meets our needs very well.

I got a green mountain pellet grill for Christmas model is Davy Crockett. It is awesome and it fits perfectly in the front bay where the generator would be.

I got the Coleman RoadTrip Classic for 3 reasons. I like the fact It could be used on a table top or kitchen center, as I already have one of those, but could put the base and legs on it for those quick overnights when I don't want to set up all the Kitchen gear. I love the large cooking area, I often cook for several people or make stuff for buffets and need a lot of grill room. Love the interchangeable grates, It comes with one skillet grate for my eggs, toast, and bacon in the morning on half the grill, and the BBQ grate on the other half for the BBQ type stuff I like to cook. I do not know how long it will last, but the reviews have been good. I have 1 season on mine so far and no complaints.

Yes, took my Firecraft Q450 to Colorado last summer, great for low and slow, but for 2 burgers just too much to heat up.
