New 5th Wheeler to Forum
Hello to Everyone,
Just joined today in order to learn more about specific information as related to the Montana's and Keystone. So far nothing major to be concerned with other than the stock tires, of which I will watch closely. Took ownership of a 2016 3820FK last April and have a few weeks of travel from Washington to Lake Tahoe, down to Vegas and back.
Retired USAF back in 95 and went on to be an Immigration's Inspector and just retired from US Customs & Border Protection. The 40 foot trailer has been somewhat of a major learning curve. Haven't quite managed parking it in between the trees yet, pull-thrus are great though. Anyhow we are still formulating a plan for 2017, such as staying local for the Spring and 4 to 6 weeks in September to the Utah NP's and a visit to Colorado. Will be reading a lot of the messages in the days to come.

Hi I've got a brother named Henry, Henry Clay. Your are right to be concerned about the stock tires. During the summer they are the no. 1 topic. If you wont to avoid a problem get rid of them. We hear all summer of blown tires doings thousands of dollars damage to campers.
Welcome
Lynwood

Welcome to the forum, Henry, from sunny Colorado. We have been members for almost 14 years and have learned a great deal. Be careful with those tires. They often don't give notice before they do thousands in damage. I hope you have many trouble free miles.

Welcome to the forum and it's a good idea to watch those tires closely. As a former RV transporter I was witness to many other RV transporters driving too fast (I went a max of 64 mph and it was not unusual to see some other transporter blow by me like I was standing still) while delivering their rigs to various dealers. I never did this but saw many who were more concerned about the $1.00 per mile they were getting paid to deliver that rig as quickly as possible. Even on my own rig, it fell victim to losing a tire to premature wear which may have been prematurely abused as one contributing problem.

Thanks Art-n-Marge. I am very comfortable in maintaining 60 MPH with my setup. I constantly check the tires for 80 PSI before it trip. I had multiple elevations and temperatures during late summer and that caused many variations for the PSI checks. Tires have about 5K on them now with transport. They are covered for the winter and I will probably go with them for the next year pending any unusual circumstances.

Welcome to the forum. Yep, tires should be your #1 concern at this point. I bought my Montana used and the dealer put a new set of Marathons on. Didn't matter. Even though these were not the "transporter" tires, I had issues and replaced them after the first season. I was lucky though. No blowout, no damage like others have reported. Just a broken steel belt (according to the tire guy) causing a bubble in the sidewall. I am a part-timer and was cautious of air-pressure and speed, as well as road hazards. They had less than 2000 miles on them. Just an FYI...
