Heading South & Watching Matthew
Leaving this morning after completing our summer travels and visits with northern family. With the exact track of Matthew still not certain for all of Florida we will proceed slowly and try not to be in northern Florida until Tuesday.
Hopefully they will know more of the exact track by Monday afternoon.

Keep your eye on the storm, Be ready to take a westerly trail.
Sounds like you are doing it right and are aware of things. Good planning can avoid most non tire problems which we are all familiar with.
Like Dick and Joyce said, Dido to you guys.
Enjoy your trip and cherish the time you have with your family.

Hi
We live just north of Lake Okeechobee and have just started loading the Montana so we can run away from the storm if it turns in our direction.

Ok so here I go we have a 10 day cruse all paid for going out of New York on October 12th going north ending up in Quebec on the 22nd. The storm may be past by then but we fly into New York on the 8th so we can visit the city. Well let's hope for the best we can always change our travel plans but people living there can't just pickup their homes and move out of the way.

Just came in this morning to Fort Lauderdale from 15 day Panama Canal Cruise. We had to for go our last stop in Aruba due to the storm. Leaving Columbia the water was a little rough. We ended up going to Georgetown, Grand Caymans instead. Skirted around and missed the storm. Now as long as it stays south, until I get out of here tomorrow morning. I will be a happy camper.

Hi
Keep your eye on it I don’t like the way it’s just kind of hanging around down south of Jamaica.

We ended up in Clarksville and will probably just go down to Troy Alabama tomorrow. Just read all the latest updates and right now it looks like Florida may dodge it altogether. I still need to see how fast it moves and what direction it stays on. A 38' gas MH doesn't handle windy days on the interstate like my Montana did.
Phil, you are smart for getting ready just in case. Of course this probably isn't your first rodeo with one of these. When we left a couple months ago I emptied everything out of the pool cage and put all the hurricane shutters down so there is nothing I need to do at the house.

Hi
The company I was working for in Tamami Florida didn’t listen to my recommendations about moving the flyable aircraft before Andrew hit. They are no longer in business. Andrew was supposed to cross the Keys a good 60 or 70 miles south of Tamami.
All but a few of the storm shutters are already on the house and an hour’s work will finish including putting everything that can blow away inside. LOL

We minimize our chances of meeting big swirl of wind by not showing our faces in sw florida until nov first. As always will be sitting in adairsville georgia two weeks prior to make sure mother nature is playing nice. Stay safe all. John

Got up this morning with a site reserved for Dade City (Florida) for tonight. Latest track for Matthew has brought it closer to east coast of Florida by Thursday. We are only 560 miles from home but we don't want to get home just in time to turn around and rush north again, so here we will sit.
Phil, unless the track of this monster changes in the next 24 hours you will get a pretty good hit from it. Good luck.

From everything posted on the hurricane this morning it appears the Ft. Myers/Cape Coral area will be spared the brunt of it. Maybe just some heavy rain and up to 40mph winds on Friday. We decided to dash home and get the MH tucked away tomorrow morning (Thursday). It was pretty strange coming east on I-10 today and then south on I-75 watching hundreds of RV's going the opposite direction. Usually this time of year is when everyone is heading south through Florida.
Phil, I hope you are in your Montana and on the road north.

Hi
5 Am Friday morning.
Wednesday afternoon we move west to Toby’s RVF resort in Arcadia Florida. Arrived a 4 PM because of soft ground the Montana axels fell in a drainage ditch getting in to the parking spot. The Montana dropped down to the rear frame sitting on the ground. We spent the next 3 hours jacking it up and putting blocks under the wheels. It pulled out party easy after that.
So didn’t get on the internet much after that.
I don’t have any information about the conditions at the stick house. I am not even sure by the news reports if we are without power in Okeechobee County. I do know we had winds in the 100MPH range.
I will leave the Montana in the driveway so we can leave again nest Thursday for our planed monthly trip.
Phil P
Up date as of 6 am 10% of the customers in Okeechobee county are without power.

Glad to hear you made it out, even though it sounds like a pretty rough transition to Arcadia. We barely had some gusts around 30mph and very little rain here, but I was monitoring conditions around Lake O and they sure didn't look good.
Relax, stop by Slim's BBQ and get some really good grub, you can't change what Mother Nature has done to your property. That is what insurance is for.

You bet we just shutter everything and go someplace else. If it’s all gone when we get back the insurance company has a cleanup problem. LOL
