Mice

We have mice. We took the Montana in to the dealer for repairs
August 22 and got it back yesterday. we are infested with mice. We have never had mice....ever.

We see no droppings in the compartments, under the sinks, closets, under the bed only in the Rv proper. Removed the air return vents in the steps and nothing there.

Will pull the W/D this afternoon. We may get one of the neighbors cats and leave it in the Rv overnight.

The underbelly was down for tank replacement but I can not find were they get into the living area.

They can get thru a very tiny hole. Probably got in around plumbing and electrical entries thru the floor.

I feel your pain. We had mice get into our unit while it was at the rv dealer for repairs. They chewed the control wiring between the front ac in it and the thermostat. This required the ceiling to be dropped for repairs. They also chewed into the pex water lines in 14 places. We had to replace all of the pex lines in the rv. Total damages around $4500.

Set lots of traps under stairs, in passthrough, under sink. If you look at where your sinks drain to, you should see big holes in the wall for vent pipe to roof as well as electric wires for kitchen. If you feel under the lower edges of cabinets above toe kick, you will probably feel holes. And before they crawl into your furnace ducts, best to remove the passthrough wall and put wire mesh over the furnace lines that dump heat into the tank area. I also had a opening beside the first step into the bedroom and the entry closet, so shine a flashlight into that area if your layout is similar to mine. Did have a pack rat or something chew a hole into my cable line as it laid on the ground in gallup a week ago. John

I also use those sonic plug in devices seems to work. The other thing is to open everything,mice like the dark, I take out my drawers, open cabinets, lift the bed anything to put light there.

We have learned from prior Rv ownership to plug all holes coming through the floor and there are many of them. No entry behind the W/D. Traps and poison are next.

Traps and poison the one time we had them several years ago. Traps caught two. Left poison in basement 2-3 years. Never saw sign of another.

Do not use poison. They will die somewhere you can't get to them to get them out and the smell will be terrible. Use old fashioned traps as mentioned earlier and bait them with peanut butter. Has never failed for me.

Also put traps under the camper outside by the tires. That's where I use to catch them.
By the water heater is an entry point.

I put the sonic noise makers in my silverware drawer on the silverware. Guess what they did on the silverware. Going by that I would say they didn't work so well or not at all.

Notice to WeBeFulltime; If you have mice and you are in Wisconsin you must bait with cheese. I think it's a state law or something. JUST KIDDING!!!!! But we had mice once and set traps.caught 5 of the critters.We find spreading moth crystals around the tires helps. Also cayenne pepper seems to keep them out of the tool box and battery compartment on my mower tractor. We spend a good deal of time parked on grass just as you see in our signature picture.

Thought the Bird could meow like a cat Rich, just leave it in the Monte and see if the mice disappear! Still like Fresh Cab put all around to keep them out and actually it will chase them out too. They do not like that herbal smell one bit! Also sounds like your dealer needs to invest in some cats and a good exterminator.

We got sticky tape mice catchers. This the only mice experience we have had.You are right about poison they will crawl away and die somewhere and thw smell will be worse than having mice.

Saw our dealer at a RV show today and advised him of our mice problem and they said with a big smile on his face they said they have never seen a mice in the shop.Told him I will bring one in very soon.

If you keep traps or the tape out you will catch all of them. My camper is near worse case my hay barn 15 feet from one side my garden 10 feet from the other side and a brush pile as big as the camper 40 feet behind it and I'm able to control them with traps. I've tried all the other cures and not found one that works.

Did have one mouse and bought the larger sticky traps (rat size) and used peanut butter on the traps. A friend of ours used the small mouse traps and the mice were able to move the traps around and the sticky stuff made a mess on their carpet. The mice can't move the traps around too much with the larger traps.
After that we bought Cab Fresh and so far no mice.

Come morning we shall see if the sticky trap worked never thought about the mice being able to move it around.I hope not.

We need a bigger mouse trap. The rodent was on the tape but pulled loose Left hair but no body. We will get the RAT sticky tape and continue the hunt this PM.I also found a regular mouse trap. We are pulling all stops. This is all out war.

Don't want to hi-jack this thread,but killed a spider in our 5th wheel, and was wondering if at every camp site, if I just sprayed bug spray around the 6 leveling pads, and around the tires, would that be a good deterrent for bugs wanting to climb on up? Maybe even mice? :-)
