3820FK ... Keystone ... Really???

Dropped by the Topeka RV show this afternoon. Getting past all the ooohhhhs and awhhhhhs of eye candy, who is designing these things now days? Neither of us are large people and sliding around the kitchen table like we did the booths back in the soda fountain days is insane. Yes the table top turns, but it makes no difference as to access. I guess you could just leave it unlatched and sling food as you turn it while you access your seat. Next, the hot water heater is eye level or in my case slightly above as I stand outside the fiver. One would have to get on a ladder to drain the unit in winter or wear a lot of water as it gushes out. As for outside storage ... there is more storage in the trunk of my VW Jetta.

Looks a little tight??? I guess it's one way in(opposite the fridge side) and then reverse out??? Just sooo convenient.

Haven't seen one in person. But that was my first thought when I saw the floor plan. Never like booths either.

The FK is a great Idea but just not Designed right ,me and my wife like the Idea but Man for us fulltimers having NO STORAGE and no Pantry and no Island AND the BOOTH seating in the Kitchen is a big Mistake IMO

Sounds and looks like a great idea but I'm real glad we went with the 3790RD instead. Storage, big kitchen and lots of room through out.

We said the same thing. Other FKs I have seen put the fridge on the opposite side of the slide out, allowing full access to the dinette. I also prefer a table and chair setup. I bet this model goes thru some changes in the upcoming year to make it more user friendly.

It is a design feature to allow you to flood your furnace when doing maintenance. Guess they were off when they mounted that table. Can't figure out why the table needs the turn feature. Sort of reminds me of what happens when several people are allowed to design anything with no one having the final say. John

DW and I were in one of these units on Thursday as the large local RV show got underway. A saleslady was sitting at the dinette nearest the fridge and in spite of the fact she was a small person she was very cramped in there. There is a tremendous reduction in storage space compared to our 3402RL and as diesleguy mentioned the water heater location is just plain crazy.

Was it pretty inside....yes... but there is no way my DW would want that kind of a kitchen, we both prefer table/chairs and got away from the booth format when we sold our old TC.

I do not remember the make but the unit comes equipped with "E" rated tires, in fairness so did the 41 ft Grand Designs.

There were only 3 Montana models on display which was disappointing but of "all" the various manufacturers on display I will keep my 3402RL since I now have it "fixed" and for the most part trouble free, with the exception of the lifting roof material.

We were interested in that floor plan but after seeing the pics...forget that.....idea was good....but reality not so good....especially for someone roughly 265 lbs all the time....lol

When I was in the Army, the supervisors of the good soldiers who packed our parachutes had a very serious and good quality control system. Every time a GI repacked a parachute, his name went on a tag with that parachute. At random times, the riggers were told to go get a parachute with their name attached as the rigger...and go jump it. That's quality control! I would like to see some of the engineers who designed and built this RVs to go spend a week in them and tell us how good/bad their design was.

They are designed to appeal to the buyer who usually knows little about Rv's. The majority of RV users are low end users and do not have to contend with design discomforts for very long.

Well it just goes to show why us fulltimers and longtimers will probably be moving away from the Montana line in the near future. They are designing on cosmetics and looks over form and function. Most folks buying these rigs certainly could not be fulltimers with little storage.

At the Quartzsite Big Tent RV show nothing from any of the manufacturers trick our trigger, except one design with the name of a beautiful South Carolina port city from SOB that rhymes with Hallmark!

A lot of the units we saw have induction cook tops, residential frigs and dishwashers....

Frig sure, but DW and induction cook tops? Talk about using some juice and water!

Les you got it however these things any brand are not designed for long timers or full timers. The majority of Rv buyers are low end users and buy on looks that is where the $$ are.

Been that way for generations. Riggers make jumps regularly.

I agree with the majority of you about the booth in the FK. If I would get one, the first thing to go would be the booth and I'd be replacing it with a table and chairs. For those of you who talk about the designers, I also agree but the best way to make your comments known is to attend the Fall Rally in Goshen this September. Keystone and the Montana folks listen to us with our comments and suggestions and many changes have been made do to our suggestions at the Rally.

x2 Rondo.. Shortly after the folks here (and probably elsewhere) complained about the design of the 2016 closets with the tricky sideways washer dryer hookups inside them, Montana redesigned the closet. The 3000RE we looked at on the lot had the closet I just described, the unit we ordered was delivered with a completely redesigned closet, one with a separate front facing door for the washer dryer. Thank you for listening Montana!
