Strapping the chairs down

I have a new Montana HC with large recliners in the back and chairs around the table. All have straps to tie them down for travel. How important is this? They weren't tied down on delivery and they haven't moved an inch since I got the rig. Any recommendations from the veterans out there?

Thanks,

I strap down the kitchen table chairs. I don't have recliners as my couch is in the back and I have theater seating in the slide. I do make sure all TV's are secured.

There is the equivalent of a 6.5 earthquake happening in the trailer every time it's rolling down the road. Strapping down the chairs seems prudent to me Better safe than sorry.

We do not tie them down in ours. No problems in nearly four years.

I pulled my campers tens of thousands of miles and have never strapped a chair down and never had one move.

Our dining chairs do not have straps and they never move during travel. I do strap the recliners.

I quit strapping the recliners down a while back. We do make sure they don't interfere with slide outs when setting up. They never have.

We are on our third Monty, first two did not strap them, this one (2012) we did not the first year, then we were opening the 4 slides, and the third one got stuck because the chair had moved between the wall and the end of the slide. Screwed up the slide and had to have a repair. We cannot see the slide as the fourth and last one to extend blocks the way to the third slide.
Burned once, now always strapping those puppies down.

I use the straps because someone must know something better than I and I don't want to ever need to know why they were ever needed. Just a little bit of extra time to setup or breakdown, but in the setup and breakdown of things it's so little time that is needed compared to the other billions of things I do, I just don't worry about leaving it out of the procedure. I also think like Chipf2.

FYI, I did lose the desk chair included in my floorplan because I did not strap it down (It worked itself into the path of the slideout and it got destroyed when I brought the slides out.) Since I've never had the need to use the desk as a desk. Anyone sitting there would block the view of the television when others sat in the recliner next to the desk, so we haven't bothered to replace it. We use the void for the pet's stuff.

I have had to replace the recliners twice due to damage from them rocking against the window and each other as I traveled. Both times they were straped down. I replaced with the Lazy Boy Pinnacle recliners that don't rock and no problem since. I continue to strap them due to the possibility of them moving forward and interfering with the slides.

Strap the recliners so they stay put and doesn't mess with slide. No straps for the dining chairs no problems so far.

As stated by others, 25000 miles never strapped chairs or anything in the Montana. If I had rocking chair recliners, I would find a way to limit motion. Lots of weight in those chairs, and they can do damage!

Two Montanas over an eight year period and 6 of those years full timing so far. Never tied down chairs and never a problem. Never a problem for 4 1/2 years with our dreaded rear kitchen either that so many people bad mouth.

We never strapped the recliners "down", and actually removed the hooks from the floor back there. But we always tie them back-to-back when towing. I just always believed they were too heavy to move much but could actually swivel some if not secured.

We strap the dining table and chairs, but not the recliners. They haven't moved a bit in about 30k miles, including some pretty rough roads.
