Trailer King Tires

Picked up our Montana last week and it has Trailer King tires. I've seen lots of comments about Marathon tires but none about Trailer King. Does anyone have any experience with these tires?

My criteria is simple. If any brand tire says "Made in China" on the sidewall, I will not have them. I have had 614's on the last two rigs and have never had a problem with them. The first rig's tires had those words on the side and I cannot say the same for them. It may a simplistic approach, but it is what I use.

They are still made in china st tires with a speed limit of 65...but they could have been made in a factory that is better than what produced the marathon. If your dealer is close to keystone, you have less of a worry about how much the transporter exceeded 65 and if they actually made sure keystone had the tires at 80 psi. But I have no experience with them. John

It's not so much as being Chinese as it is they are ST tires. I am a firm believer that ST tires are great,....as long as you weigh less then 8000 lbs.

Oh, I still don't like Chinese stuff either, unless it's on a buffet....lol lol

Not much bad being said about them yet. Plenty of places that sell them. We should have a real feel for them by summer when or if we hear about problems from members. Personally it's still and ST tire and still isn't required to have any reserve capacity so for a heavy rig I'd still rely on the 614's.

I've heard mixed things about them on other forums, some good, some bad. I've also heard positive things about Marathon's on other forums from those with lighter weights. Bottom line to me is how old any tire is and how close to the weight limit are you.

If you Google that tire you will find it is about 1/2 the cost of a Marathon. It is just another way that Keystone is saving a buck.

A ST tire is fine on a light weight trailer, but on a heavy 5th, I took mine off when I got it home, sold them on Craig's list.

Or as commonly referenced on other forums as "BlowMax", maybe second cousins to "MaraBombs"

like as said before, Trailer King,Towmax,Marathon ,Westlake .....Same Same all ST E rated,Before I went Fulltime I had no problem with my ST E rated tires because I was just going on Short trips,BUT once you want to start logging some miles or Fulltiming Ya gotta go with LT G rated 110P.S.I. tires AND there are other Options besides Expensive Goodyear G614's (although they are great)

Found on line, $81 per tire. My opinion, worse than marathons. replaced on our 2015 the same day we took delivery

So, assuming I'll need to replace the wheels too, I'm looking at an upgrade cost of around $500 per wheel? Does that sound about right?

You should not have to upgrade the rims.

A 2015 model will have the rims rated for 3750 lbs, you will not have to replace your rims.

I also agree these tires are fine on lighter trailers when speeds are kept within their maximum rating of 65 mph, exceeding that will undoubtedly lead to problems either way.

There are other "G" rated options as has been mentioned by bigskyjimmy and I know of another chap that runs the same ones as Jim and has had no problems with them.

If in doubt go with the G614's...

Trailer King , Tow Max, etc, they are still ST tires and made in China. I would not use a tire made in China on my Montana. When I bought the 2012, the deal included replacing the ST tires.

$81 tire on a $80000 rig. Think about it.

Getting great reviews ,and you don't have to pay the extra 100 dollars PER tire for insurance
