Need advice: Water heater leaking new one on order

Hello group...we have a 2010 3455sa. Our water heater is leaking and we have a new one ordered. How can we bypass the waterheater and use city water? Seems it should be a relatively simple thing since there is a bypass valve in the convenience center for use when winterizing. Is it possible?
Thanks for your insight!
Patty

You should be able to do as you stated. Drain the WH, position the bypass valve and press on using city water connection.

Thanks for the reply Mike. We have done all that you suggest. However, it seems we are having real problems with air in the lines. Since we drained the WH, the water coming out of the faucet is spitting and shooting and generally being ugly. The WH is making funky sounds when we open the faucet on cold water as well. Tend to make us believe the WH isn't actually being bypassed. Any thoughts on why that is happening and how to make it stop?

I would try running water faucet by faucet. Should eventually clear the air out. May take several minutes

I have found that for whatever reason, sometimes it helps to cycle or turn the valve two or three times to fully close it. I've had to do this when using the power fill valve.

Pull the zinc plug on water heater.. That will tell you if bypassing..
