carpet cleaning

Has anyone had their carpet cleaned by a commercial cleaner-if so witch one and did they do a good job. Also I was wondering if they use a dry cleaner, concerned about wet clearers.

Have never had ours done by a commercial firm. I have used our Hoover Max Extract Carpet Cleaner (what they used to call steam vac I think), that I use on the home carpets, once or twice a year since we have owned our Monte. Does a good job. I always do it when the weather is nice and humidity low so I can open the windows, run the ceiling fan in the living room and a box fan in the bedroom. The Hoover sucks most of the water out so the drying time is very quick under those condition. Amazing how much "mud" ends up in the collection bucket even when the carpets don't look particularly dirty.

Agree here as well. We have used the rinse n vac with great results but with each Montana we buy we are looking for less and less carpeted areas.

I used Chem-Dry carpet & upholstery cleaners. It is not a dry clean like the name implies. There process uses hot carbinated extraction and claim to use 80% less water than typical steam cleaning. My camper was a year and a half old when I purchased it from the original owners. They kept it clean but they owned two dogs and one was a long hair and come to find out 2 weeks after I bought it they had fleas. After I solved the flea issue I had Chem-Dry come in and clean everything. The carpets, upholstery, drapes, even the cushions on the dining room chairs. If it was made out of fabric I had them clean it. They did a good job and it came out nice.

We bought a Bissell "Pet" Carpet Cleaning system. It's amazing on all kinds of levels, it even heats the tank water. . With a Retriever and Bernese Mt Dog, it's a must have. Key to a good system, especially in an RV, is getting the hot water back out. These machines are impressive. We use it at home and in the Montana. It will shock you how much dirt is tracked into the RV. One word of "ADVICE", don't tell anyone you own one! Everyone will try to borrow it! It fits nicely under the bed, and the chemicals are widely available.

We use a fellow in Ft Lauderdale Florida that has a unit mounted in a van that produces "dry Steam" and doesnít leave the carpet wet. You can walk on the carpet as soon as he gets his equipment out of the way. We do this once a year because of the pets that travel with us.

We use a Bissell also that heats the water. Does a great job in the S&B and the Monte and doesn't take too long to dry.

We had a carpet installer here doing some work.the key is to use a minimal amount of water with the carpet backing now being a form of plastic excess water can destroy the carpet. He did mention one of the national Carpet cleaning Company's that use way too much water especially if the operator is inexperienced
