Ban On One Ton Truck [V]
We were ready to write a contract on a new home this past weekend when I asked to see a copy of the deed restrictions. To my dismay, trucks and vans greater than 3/4 tons were prohibited. Needless to say we walked away from that one!
I still think that I have the right truck to tow my Montana and would not personally recommend a 3/4 ton for the job. But this type of restriction could sure be used against a one ton in support of getting a 3/4 ton tow vehicle.

Your not alone Craig. My favorite is "It's illegal to park a vehicle with dual wheels overnight on the street". That one sneaks up on you to.

its just a matter of time before it will be difficult to park and drive a one ton anywhere in a city, Glad I live in the woods on a private road

I had to give up more secure gated communities for that reason and I had to have a place to park an RV if and when I bought one. I didn't want to buy an RV and have to park it is storage.
So my community allows it all. The downside is they also allow things that I don't like. So I learn to live with it. I don't like other people telling me how to live.
But I can get a 1 ton dually if I want to.
Sorry you didn't get your house.

You'll proubley all be glad your not my neighbor after this story!
17 years ago I got a good deal on a 4yr. old house in a rather SNOOTY neighborhood. Read ALL the CC&R's, including NO RV's on Public Streets over 72hrs. I could live with that. Also some for parking on property, had to have min 6' ft. fence to block view from street. I arranged to store 22' ft. TT at house I sold to my Sister. I also owned a MH that I had leased to a Rental Co.
SOOOOoooo! I bring the TT to the house to do some work on it the week-end before a trip. One of my NEIGHBORS stops my Son to tell him to remind me that it can't be there for more than 72hrs. My Son replies; He knows that! When he told me, I called the Rental Co. to see if my MH was available at that time. They said yes, so I went and got it also! They both just fit on the street between my driveway and my lot line. Needless to say he never spoke to me or my Son after that!

We bought our home 10 yr ago. In 1999 we bought our TT & talked about putting in a carport to park it under. We didn't know the house next door was a renral when we boughtour home. Wouldn't have mattered. We when to city to get a permit. They had to notify all ajoining proptery owners. The only time we have met the owner of the house next door. She drove from Nashville Tn. 110 miles to protest the pemit. The city granted it anyway. But we didn't keep the TT but 4 mos & bought a 5ver. & it would have been higher than the house so we axed that idea.

Sounds like they need to update their CCR's. Ours is a one ton but doesn't have the dual rear wheels so they'd have to look close to know it's a one-ton. Otherwise it's the same size as the 3/4 ton on the outside.

I live in a county which has more deer than people. A travel trailer or 5th wheel
in the driveway is considered home improvement.

If you buy the Dodge 2500 hd with diesel engine and 4.10 , all you have to do is add helper springs to have same capacity as 3500 srw. Of course you don't get those cute clearance lights. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Thank goodness that I live in the county on two acres. If I tried to put all the toys I have in a driveway in town they would tar and feather me and send me on my way.

Well thats what happenes when you want to live in one of those REALY NICE housing communities. I would love to have one of those new homes, But there are toooo many people making rules that they think would make your life compatable to theirs, isn't that how a dictatorship starts? all the rules and no freedome, and thats just the beginning then you have to find a storage place for the trailer and they will rip you of next.
