Carefree Slideout Kovers III full Enclosure

We are considering adding toppers to our slides. I would like to hear pros and cons of the Carefree Slideout Kovers III Full Enclosure. I like the full enclosure feature to help protect the awning.

Comments??????????????

Other than a lot more expensive, having them probably would have prevented the small scrape I got on one from a too close tree branch one time. Put some Eternabond tape over the 3" of little holes to keep it from getting worse. The covers may keep the canvas from getting dirty, but someone else will have to comment on that.

For us, the additional cost does not provide any bang for the buck. We usually trade our unit every five years or so, and we have never had any issues with our toppers. Have found that if I wash the awnings when I wash or polish the fiver, they stay looking decent. Wear and tear on the toppers is generally exposure to the elements, ie sun, wind, etc.

We have them on our Open Range. While they look nice, the cover tends to rattle. I wouldn't spend all that extra money for them again. However we would not go without toppers.

If the rig will sit in direct sunlight for extended periods with the slides in I'd consider the covers with the enclosure. Otherwise I'd pass. Our awning on our SOB was basically eaten by the elements within a couple years. If we had an awning with a cover it would still be intact. We never use it so it wasn't a big loss but...

We have had them on both of our 5ers and would not order an RV without them. They keep the rain off, the bird poop and certainly add additional insulation from the sun to the slide top.

I do not think I would spend the extra money for the full covers but would not want to be without them otherwise.

The full cover model coming in contact with a tree branch might cause far more damage than without them but I guess that depends on how serious the encounter with the branch might be.

Good luck with your decision.
