We just crossed the country and noticed a trend happening concerning campsites offering cable TV. in one campground office behind the desk, I noticed a bank of 40 cable TV receivers with lights flashing. It looked like the control room of a NASA flight center. I asked the owner if he was tracking the space station. He said it was because the cable company insisted that he have a receiver for each campsite. "And it costs me a fortune", he said. Perhaps in the past, cg's would just split the signal off 1 receiver but now they are made to pony up. So... if this is the trend, and most places aren't close enough to a major OTA city, SATV is the answer. We are in NJ for 2 months and had to spring for Dish Network "Pay as you go" or watch nothing. Does anyone else notice this trend happing?

If it is costing him a fortune, then his site rates will go up accordingly

Yes, one campground we stay a couple times a year raised their rate $5 a night. I wish they would give a choice and let those who want or need cable pay for it

In our old marina in central Illinois they had Comcast cable ran to most of the slips when the place was built. About 4 years ago Comcast came out with a little black box that had to be connected to home receivers in order to continue to receive their signals. The marina had to pony up. Annual renters ended up paying for their own boxes. That was about the time we dropped Comcast at our stick home and went with Direct TV. I suspect changes in cable TV delivery systems will continue to be problematic for CG's and marinas. We never use CG cable and would hate to have to start paying for it.

Yep,big time Charter cable which provides a lot of Resorts with cable here on the West Coast has started doing that, we pulled into a resort in Oregon and told there will no cable as they are changing companies we talked the owner and he was very upset it is just asking too much to hand out 300 boxes to everybody that comes in ,they have to make sure they are returned ,some get broken Etc..Etc.. but the big problem is he is having to Pay Charter big bucks back for installing the lines in the Beginning ..Good thing we have a Dish Tailgater
