Metal Bolt In Valve Stems

For those of you who have bought and changed to the bolt in Metal Valve Stems, where did you purchase them. I assume you would get the 1 1/4 inch stems but how about the hole size? (.453?) Had the original rubber/brass fail me recently so I am going to change all to the Metal Stems. I have the Tredit T04 rim but I can't find specs for the valve stem hole size. G614s are mounted on the rim.................

As always, all help is greatly appreciated.

I got my metal vale steams from the tire shop (Les Schwab) who installed my new rims and tires.

Doberman,
Like Fire5er I had Les Schwab install metal stems on my rig. Have no idea about size. As long as they work is all that is important. Good luck and Happy Travels, Dennis

Tredit is trying to locate the valve stems for me right now. problem is there are two versions of the T04 rims. If you would like, I can forward you the info when ever I receive it. I had ordered and received stainless lug nuts and metal valve stems from them. Lug nuts worked fine, valve stems are larger than the holes in my rims that came with the 2011 3100RL

cjohnson: I would greatly appreciate receiving the information you get. I suspect if the valve stems they sent were too large, the correct size will be the .453 but I am going to hold off doing anything until I hear from you.

Thanks.

I am one of the lucky ones that got 3 rims with the larger hole, (meaning the hole for the socket) and one rim with the smaller hole, ask me if I was happy when they had to put two different kinds of stems in. My local Goodyear tire store fortunately had both in stock.

One uses the nut on the outside and the other uses two nuts on the inside, one being a locking nut.

Another one of those things that should not happen, but who is responsible, Keystone or Tredit, neither will accept any responsibility. I was prepared to buy a new rim and asked Tredit to ship another rim out to their warehouse in Oregon and they would not do that, they would however ship one directly to me at a cost of $45.00 for shipping plus the cost of the new rim. Needless to say I did not buy a rim from them and they do not stock the same model in their Oregon warehouse.

I was able to find several sources of metal stems on line and I think others have as well.

I believe ours on our 2012 have the smaller holes. Also, if you want to use a TPMS, be sure to get the longer stems, almost 2" long. We had a problem with the style that has the two nuts inside the rim, one of them started leaking. The tire shop ended up using the style that is inserted from the inside with the nut on the outside, works much better.

Bob my unit is also a 2012 - 3402RL and it has 3 with the larger hole and 1 with the smaller, I was told by Tredit that the larger hole is now the standard and the other was left over inventory. The smaller hole requires you to use the inside nuts as there is not room in the opening to tighten a nut on them as there is on the ones with the bigger hole. If you have nuts on the outside then that is the bigger hole.

That must be why the one stem failed to hold air. I know the wheel had the rubber and brass stems with the Marathons originally, so thought the holes were the smaller ones. The stem with the nut on the outside has more of a threaded sleeve instead of a real nut, so now I'm not sure.

I got mine at our local napa store, they have one that has the rubber sleeves for both size holes in the package.
