Slide adjustment????
Ok, my large livingroom/dining room slide I has had a small gap at one end. It has worked fine and been this way for awhile. But one end is tight against the inside wall and the other end is about an inch away when the slide is open. I have looked on lipperts site about slide adjustments and it seems pretty straight forward. The question it has anyone ever adjusted their own slides? And is it as easy as it seems or should I just leave it well enough alone?? Thanks

I have adjusted slides several times over the years. I have always gotten a slide-out brochure with each Montana which contains instructions on slide-out adjustments. Follow those instructions carefully, make your adjustments in small bites, and you will do fine. However, I would advise you mark each adjustment position before you start just in case you mess up. That way you can go back to your start point.

Have not done it on any of our Montana's but have observed others do it using the Lippert procedure and it worked fine.

Two things that I've learned from experience with the slide out in the living quarters of our horse trailer. First, never, never, never operate the slide out until the trailer is level. A trailer that is not level can easily cause the slide out to go out of adjustment. Second, if you determine that there is a problem with the slide, get it adjusted ASAP. We did not do either with the horse trailer. The linoleum flooring was ripped to pieces by uneven tracking of the slide out. It cost us $300 to have the slide adjusted and $2500 to have the floor covering replaced.

Just spent the day adjusting two of my slides. I read all the instructions but found just looking at the for a while was the best for me to understand. Mine turned out really well. But don't expect perfection as the slides are not perfectly square. If you need some advice PM me and I will give you my phone number. I will talk you through it. It really isn't that difficult.

When ours did that it had jumped a tooth on the timing gear (operator error). I took the end away from the ram loose. Evened the slide with a tape measure, and reinstalled the timing gear. Then made a small adjustment the stroke of the ram.

Hmmmmmm I wonder if that is my problem. I spent the better part of the day trying to get it evened out. It is the side that is not the ram or drive side that when I run the room out it is about an inch difference. The side that has the ram is tight against the inside wall. But when I adjust the opposite side to try and even them out then when I run the room in there is a gap on the side without the ram. Had to put it back cause I definitely wanted it sealed going down the road. As it is it is still sealed when the room is out just not as tight as the ram side. Maybe since the slide is so long then I may just have to live with it being a little off and quit being so OCD....lol lol

It is just a split the difference situation. Sounds like you are understanding the principal.
