'14 3150RL now a collectors edition

Hi Group,

Went to see the new Montana's at the new Montana Dealer here in the RGV. They had several '14's of the new "color" and 4 '13's from the old dealer.

After looking for a 3150RL, and not finding one, went to the office. They pulled out a brochure. The 3150RL has been dropped.

Guess my '14 3150RL is now a collectors item.

Jim

And hopefully worth twice what you paid for it, after all it is a collector's item. Of course, you may be the only collector so it should make you feel good that it is worth that much to you!!

Man, talk about a short run. 2014 has barely started.

I've been looking at Mountaineers lately. They have about 4-5 from that last few years that were made for 2014, but are also dropped. My favorite (362 I think) was only made 2012 to now.

Seems to be more and more of us owning "collector's editions" nowadays.

The 3155RL floorplan is on the Keystone website now. I don't really care for it. You have to look through the kitchen and over the center island to see the TV. Not a very friendly plan like the 3150RL. Sorry guys that's my first reaction to it.
If they had just extended the rear seating area slightly and would have put the chairs on the side and the couch in the rear. They probably could have had the larger frig just ahead of the slide in the 3150RL.

Joe, I am like you. Sitting in my 3150 the TV would be where my frig is. The fireplace is like in the kitchen.

It looks like the entire back area is lino and carpet only in the very back, in slides and in bedroom.

On the web site the 3150RL shows a 12cf frig. Nope. Plus, I do not want a frig that large. Too expensive to fix.

Maybe Hook has seen one?

I have to agree. One of the things we like about ours is being able to access the fridge with the slides in. The new layout doesn't look like that would be possible.

Don't care for new floor plan, liked the living area all in back. We looked at many units looking through the kitchen island to tv and absolutely didn't care for it.. We have had many compliments on how people like the living room area on the 3150.. Also I like to be able to get to the refrigerator without opening the slides..

I guess my rig is also a collector's edition floorplan - 2006 3500RL - if the requirement is that it has been discontinued. Maybe I'll fill it up with Beanie Babies up to the Gross Weight to increase the collector value. And all this time I thought it was discontinued because the floorplan fell out of favor and therefore had less value. Thanks for the new hope jlb27537. One of these days, we'll have to schedule a Rally for "Collector's Edition Montanas"... and beanie babies.

Actually none of the floor plans listed for 2008 are listed for 2013 except for those listed "stock only" meaning the leftovers.
I guess that means if you don't trade up every 3-4 years you will quickly join the "collector's edition society".

Does anyone know how many 3150RL's were manufactured? How many years this model was produced?

On the Keystone web site you can go back and see previous years. 2009 was the first year for a 3150RL. Showed a length of 34'5". In '13 it was stretched to 35'2" and the early '14 brochure shows it as 35'2".

We have a friend that has a '11 3150RL. In our '14 it seems all the length was added in the bed room. The front closet was changed in mid '13?? to put the washer in the center of the closet. Need to check next camping trip to see if their basement storage is the same size.

The roof line in the front was flattened out to allow the bedroom ceiling to remain flat to the front of the closet.

WOW! Does this mean our 3585SA has increased in value as it has also been discontinued? Glad we got ours when we did! This just means that if we buy another 5th wheel it will be SOB. We love the rear kitchen.

We also have the 3585SA, which apparently is a collector's edition. Whoohoo! So that means it has increased in value? Not that I'm in the market. Got it new, really like the floor plan and besides . . . we "know where it's been" with regards to maintenance, repairs, etc.

So of these new ones sure are beauties, but I'd be reluctant to trade in a dependable unit and have to deal with new unit issues.

Besides, I have a collector's item!!
