Locking Cabinets when traveling
What's a inexpensive way to lock your cabinets while traveling?
After traveling the BUMPY California roads we had a few open.

We use velcro straps with a loop at one end. We saw these at Quartzsite, were real cheap and they work very well.

The tarp straps have been working for us for years. Easy to use and store.

Velcro straps also. Bought a roll of double sided at Lowe's.
Some have added magnetic latches for extra holding power. My next project.

Walmart bags. Or any plastic shopping bag. We always have a slew of em for picking up after our master(the dog). We use the "hand loops" to tie the door handles together. Always got em. Always know where we put em. Always free.

If you get a roll of the double sided Velcro you'll be surprised at how many different uses you come up with for it. Get the roll so you can cut them to size.....

We use the smaller bungie cord with the ball on the end. We carry both 4 and 6 inch cords and work great for us!

We use Velcro too, but I can honestly say I never thought of using a plastic bag...very creative!

Don and Barb,
It's good you've found this issue before you have your slide out break a cabinet door like we did. The door came open during transit behind a slide out and we couldn't see it. I now have every pair of doors held closed with Velcro. I used the wide straps that can be slipped on one cabinet handle, then looped around the other handle then back on itself.

For each Montana we have replaced the cabinet lock hardware and as a result have not had to do anything else. Source we use is Home Depot

Use the roll of Velcro which is cheap and you can cut to length. Bought a roll 3 yrs ago and still have most of it.

Go to an electronics store and purchase some cable management Velcro straps. Pick the size you want.

This is so strange. Our cabinets, each and everyone, is so "blasted tight" we cringe when opening them! We must have got the right guy installing ours! I have bruised knuckles!!! Lol

Depends on whether the "Amish" carpenter installed them or the "Amish" plumber!!

I've alway used the small bungies on the doors that are paired together, but had problem with one single door. Came up with a nice looking and easy fix, I used a nice looking brass drawer pull and mounted it 1 1/2" below the corner of the door with only one screw. When traveling you just pivot the handle over the corner of the door and it is lock and can't open until up swing it back up.
Best thing is that it is always there.
